Are we truly on the moon?

[ She sounds curious, curious enough to ask again but this time to the network now that she's been given proper instruction on how to work it and the device given to her. Lucrezia's already asked both her mother and her brother, but asking network-wide means making friends. ]

Has it always been this bleak? We see it high up in the sky, unable to ever touch it. It shines down light should we happen to lose our way—and this is how it really is? What a lonely place to be.

And space—God’s light must not reach far.

[ It doesn’t make sense. It shouldn’t be possible. Yet here they all are. And she'll put behind her the chaotic welcome she had been greeted with, monsters and carnage, death littering the corridors a week ago. ]

I cannot help but think that space is a far darker world than that of Rome.

[ But how could such a thing even be possible? ]

Well... I haven't seen any giants around here yet. But I don't see why one couldn't show up sometime. I'd tell you to keep your eyes peeled, but something tells me you wouldn't have to with a giant around.

[Exercise that imagination! Stretch it to its limits!]

Giants would stand no chance within these walls. They would arrive here only to be forced to remain outside on the surface of the moon, and then they would die.

Then they wouldn't be able to be brought through the Transporter in the first place, right? Maybe they have some sort of shrinking mechanism, or whatever.

Shrinking mechanism... I've not heard of such a thing. You mean to make one smaller?

To make a giant the same as you and I...

[ There's a thoughtful little hum from her end. ]

Yeah. I mean, I haven't seen one either, but we've got so many people with magic and cool tech here, it's not totally out of the question. It'd be pretty weird for them, though.

[ A tiny pause as she tries to understand the meaning of 'cool tech'. Does he mean cold tech? ]

Yeah, cool!

[Sorry, it takes him a second to figure out where her confusion is coming from.]

Oh, I mean like - interesting? Awesome?

[ Interesting she understands. Awesome? Not so much. ]

Cool and... awesome.

It seems we learn something new every moment we're here.

[ Lucrezia wonders what else she can learn from this gentleman. ]

Oh, do you not use that word either? [The short chuckle he lets out is entirely self-deprecating.] Whoops. I'll try to keep the slang in check. You mind me asking what year you're from?

[Assuming she's from an Earth that resembles his own.]

I believe the year was 1497. And no! Your... slang, it fascinates me.

What is the era you come from?

Wow, okay. I'm from the 2000s, so we got a good five hundred year difference between us.

[He is talking to a woman from the Rome of 1497. Sometimes he hates this place, but sometimes it is very, very cool.]

I keep thinking like I'm gonna get used to meeting people from the past or future, but it hasn't happened yet.
