joint video post: announcing free first aid kits and clinic stuff! by Donny, Steph, Ella and Flora

[bumbles]

( THE SETTING: the setting isn't exciting. I mean, it's the clinic and it looks extremely clean and well organised, but that's probably more a relief to any observers than exciting. Donny is himself, dressed in his scrubs, sleeves of the long shirt he wears underneath rolled up so that the tattoos and metal bands around his forearms are visible. He'd look sort of badass if he didn't also look a little bit green.

Fortunately he is surrounded by attractive people and first aid kits! YEAH. AWESOME. Ella is on his right, Flora as his left, although they're positioned on one side of the camera. Almost like they are keeping room for something. )

Um, h-hey. I'm-- I'm Donny, I um, I help in the-- the c-clinic? With-- supplies, and coordinating uh, stuff. ( There's a long pause, and he glances to Flora, fumbling with his words for a second before he can put something together. ) Um, just-- we just wanted to announce that we have um, m-made first aid k-kits for all the Transports. I think-- some of you p-picked them up at the m-meeting? 

( he's making a conscious effort not to fidget, but he looks so uncomfortable, and there's a reason he doesn't... do video posts. This time he's chewing his lip, glancing at Ella for a second before his gaze drops and his fingers curl towards his palms. )

If you haven't g-got one yet, if you c-could um, please come by the c-clinic. It'd b-be-- be good to get um, everyone checked off the list b-before the day n-new Transports arrive. And-- yep.

( Oh what's that? Donny seems to look horrified for a second, before Stephanie steps on camera, holding a first aid kit and modelling its contents the way you might see a car or a fridge or another fantastic prize modelled on a quiz show. Stephanie, please.

She even has a suitable 'game show model' smile, though it turns into a sheepish grin about a third of the way into her little demonstration.

With that ruined, she steps up so she's closer to the camera, putting an arm around Donny's shoulders as she addresses their audience. Donny would like the ground to swallow him up and it shows. ]

Sorry, they dared me to do it. [No they didn't.] Hey, everyone, I'm Steph, and I'm here to help you learn how to use these handy little things, if you'd like. Well, there are a few other people who can teach you as well, but I'm the cutest.

[Donny is looking horrified still (THIS IS A SERIOUS ANNOUNCEMENT), but Steph is all smiles.]

Anyway, most of this stuff is pretty simple, but if you'd like to learn your way around basic first aid, there are some classes you can sign up for, either by replying here, or coming down to the clinic whenever you're free. [a beat, to let that sink in, then:] That's it from me, have a good one, guys.

[And with a little salute, and a pat to Donny's arm, she moves off screen. There's sort of... trepidation and concern in how he looks to the others, now, waiting for them to chip in. ]

Ella is trying to smile next to Donny. She’s been slightly under the weather -a lot, actually- but hearing him make an effort and kind off flail at it does wonders for her mood. Maybe she’s a bit of a bad friend. Sighing, she takes a step forth as she holds a kit up. ]

It’s free, of course, and we will replenish it whenever you need. It has a bunch of useful stuff, both for treating whatever little nuisance you might have and prevent something serious to get even more serious before you can get help. [ A beat. ] And of course, you should totally come to the Infirmary if you really need to. Having a kit will solve some problems, but here’s where we make sure you get better.

[ She glances at Flora. While Ella can talk for hours, this is a joint effort, so she’ll bite her tongue. For now. ] [She appreciates the self-restraint, Ella. Donny looks at her and she flashes him a warm and encouraging smile. She’s really proud of him for doing this and taking initiative. When Stephanie makes her display, Flora tries to look stern, at least for Donny’s sake, but it’s clear she’s trying very hard not to laugh. She manages it. Somehow. Barely. Boy, does she ever love working here, sometimes. By the time it’s her turn to speak, though, she smoothly takes her cue and is quite composed, if still smiling.]

If for some reason you’re unable to pick up a kit, arrangements can be made to have them delivered to you. We’re here to help, so just let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

( Thanks, ladies. BUT BEFORE THEY WRAP THIS UP, Donny kind of shakes himself out of his state of I HATE PUBLIC SPEAKING to add, )

We're-- we're t-trying to uh, make sure we have all our b-bases covered for um, Transports that aren't human. C-cause-- I guess m-most of our knowledge and equipment is human... human f-focused. And-- yeah, any help p-preparing would be great. We have some other staff who aren't human, if you'd uh, f-feel-- feel m-more comfortable talking to them. Galadriel and-- there's also blood d-donations and-- Yeah. You c-can um, always ask us for m-more details and stuff. Thank you.

( Oh God can they turn off the feed now please turn off the feed-- thank God, Flora bounds forward and turns off the device. )


( OOC: Responses will come from Donny and various other clinic folks!
You also don't have to play out your character receiving a first aid kit! These losers will try to make sure every transport has one ASAP, delivering if they must. THEY WILL HUNT YOU DOWN TO GIVE YOU YOUR FIRST AID KIT. But, you know. Politely. )

( someone give the man some coffee, he looks a bit overwhelmed by the video thing )

Thank you. And, um. W-we can-- work out um, p-plans for how to g-get you here during any emergencies? Or um, check in-- plans. Like communication or status checks to m-make sure stuff is... yeah.

( he has a coherent plan but he feels a bit too AHHH PUBLIC SPEAKING to express the plan )

( This is perfect she needs to talk to him alone [so to speak] anyway )

Maybe we can meet up and talk those out? I know there's at least one girl who's also in a chair here, so...

Oh, um, Donny? I can... I think it'd be good if we can talk person to person? There's something I think I can help you out with,.

[bumbles]

Yeah. Sure.

( He looks a bit ruffled and thrown, looking between her two responses and opting to go with this one. )

W-when would um, b-be good?

[crocodilesmiles]

( She talks too fast, it's all good, Donny! )

Maybe after Ella's dropped the kit off? It's probably important.

[bumbles]

Yeah. Right, I'll um. I can b-be there in-- ( Yikes, he has to talk to Kirian first, and then there's this other thing-- but no, Collette can be before the other thing. )

An hour? At the uh, l-latest.

[crocodilesmiles]

Okay! I'll see you in an hour, then!

[bumbles]

Okay. Cool.

( AND SURE ENOUGH in an hour he is turning up, but wow he isn't looking his best. That hair is a little bird's nest-esque, you might say. He got the address from the conversation with Ella, and is knocking quietly on the door )

( She's still working on notes of some sort, looking up when she thinks she hears a knock. )

Door's open!

( She calls out. )

Come in!

[bumbles]

( okay he'll just stick his head through the door before stepping in properly, arms hugged across his chest before he reminds himself don't do that, that's stupid, drops them to his side and sort of... fidgets. For a while. )

Hi. Um-- yeah. Is stuff o-okay?

[crocodilesmiles]

( No, but her problem is still self limiting, and that's not what she wanted him here for. )

Hey! Thanks for coming by. I just... so you guys are trying to deal with blood stuff, right? For all species, I'm guessing?

( She waits for some kind of confirmation from him. )

That's something I can help with. In a weird way, but -- yeah.

[bumbles]

Oh?

( Okay, that's intriguing, so he-- walks in a little further. And he's aware that she didn't answer his question, but isn't sure how to push that. )

Um, that'd-- that'd b-be good.

Mind closing the door?

( She's not overtly secretive; how she asks is even playful. )

I promise, I won't bite!

[bumbles]

S-sorry.

( Right, of course, sorry, and he let's his magic swing the metal hinges to close them, hands sheepishly gripping at his shirt. )

O-okay. That's p-probably um, b-better from a health p-perspective.

( donny that was the worst joke ever )

( Nonetheless, Collette laughs, settling back in her chair and folding her hands into her lap. )

Yeah, definitely! People's mouths are germy. They're only good for like, kissing, when you know where they've been! Anyway --( that aside... ) -- it's just that I can sort of help with the alien biology thing. Like, needing exact matches? If I acquire someone, then I can turn into them, physically, down to their DNA, bone marrow, size, optimal weight, you name it. Which seems like it'd be a good thing for donations like you're thinking, though anything I do would have to be done in under two hours. Even if it's unsafe for me -- it's necessary.

[bumbles]

( collette you're like five years old why are you talking about kissing should he be concerned do they need to run a sex ed class along with the first aid stuff oh god

oh thank god the topic changed, but not before he looked horrified

and then he looks fascinated, head canted, reaching for his notes-- ) Uh, is it-- is it okay if I write that d-down? 'Cause, confidentiality, and stuff.

( He prefers to be over-cautious. ) I m-mean that um, that c-could be amazing. B-but-- but if you wnat to d-donate blood, it's only safe to um, d-do that-- I think once every twelve w-weeks?

( She won't object to handouts of lubrication and condoms Donny, it's not that she needs them right now or anything but hey there's being forever prepared! She does remember people's reactions, though. Sometime later, she'll use this to tease you Donny, all out of love.

To his statement on times, she shakes her head. )

No, that's not what I mean. And it doesn't work with morphing like it does with people usually. As long as I morph back to me, then to something else, you could take as much blood from me in a morph in a day as you can manage in under two hours. There is no relapse time or whatever -- my blood count in morph will always be at the healthy level it's supposed to be for that person.

[bumbles]

DON'T EVEN THINK THEM oh god no not teasing and trolling, those are his great weaknesses.

But, ahem. Moving on from his never-ending mortification, Donny sort of... has to take a second. ) So, m-morph means you can-- like, um, shapeshift? But you uh, recover. Like reset your h-health?

( That's amazing. That's bizarre but it's amazing, and he sort of wishes Max had that same kind of protection, although he doesn't get the two hour rule. ) Why, um, t-two hours? Like uh, stress on the b-body?

I mean what nothing like that nothing at all!!! )

Mmm, it's a time limit. Morphing's not something you're born with, it's given. If I'm in a morph for more than two hours, I'm stuck. Forever.

[bumbles]

Okay. So n-not-- m-magic?

( Or maybe yes magic. Whatever it is, it sounds complicated, and he's chewing on his lip as he thinks. )

W-well, um, you n-not getting stuck is-- m-more important than um, than tests.

( With a little smile, a bit frazzled as he thinks. ) Um, okay. We c-can probably do any um, longer-- longer observation and t-tests and whatever on p-people who don't have those um, those risks. But I think-- I think this'll b-be really helpful, if p-people are okay with you morphing into their species.

( He's not sure how etiquette on that works. Actually-- ) How um, d-do you make stuff w-work for non-human species if you c-can uh, read about them and stuff?

[crocodilesmiles]

We just need to ask them, 'cause it's not just their species. It's them.

What do you mean, how do I make stuff work for non-human species?

[bumbles]

Whoa.

( Okay hang on he is going to sit himself down and start making notes, tugging at his hair a little bit so that it looks... okay, it already looked sort of ruffled and ridiculous but he's making it worse. )

W-well, 'cause, um. If you... shape shift, you n-need to um, to know how the b-body works so you c-can um, control it. N-not-- mess something up. So if you d-don't know how their body w-works 'c-cause it's different from um, from human and w-we don't have scientific--

( wait is he asking something really stupid? ) Just, um. How d-do-- ( come on, talk ) do you replicate it, I g-guess. Safely.

( She smiles, finally getting what he means. )

You dont know everything, of course, but even people have some baseline instincts, you know? Those come with the morph. I keep saying acquire, and that's what I mean. I acquire a morph. It's like pokemon, but for genetics. I'm becoming a temporary clone of people or animal's I've touched.

( If she's intended to acquire them. Given that she's a handsy person, she doesn't want people getting the wrong idea -- she only has two human morphs, and both were given with permission (Caesar's being a sort of backward exception, since he'd acquired himself while being her). )

There's a lot of stuff that's automatic, that way.
