His playing is good, his gravelly voice pleasant, even if the song's a little sombre. Fitting as he looks a little sombre himself. When he's done, he shrugs slightly at the camera.]

Been a coupla' weeks since I had a guitar, so I felt like sharin'. It ain't my old one, but it'll do. Sounds pretty good, though.

Anyway. Just wanted to let folks know that I'm gonna be runnin' some missions for awhile to go pick some stuff up. Whatever it is we might need. I'm gonna be hittin' up the USA in the later twentieth century, so if I can get it there, I'll bring it home for ya. Even if it's somethin' small or stupid or whatever. Whatever'll make ya happy. Just name it.

I'm pretty much goin' out by myself, and only comin' back to drop stuff off. So I should be back every day or every other day. Ya shouldn't have to wait long for whatever ya need, then. But let me know before tomorrow mornin', or just leave me a message. I'll get back to ya.

[At first Walter just lets the transmission play while he busies himself. But when he hears the offer to bring back supplies, he pauses in his task and picks up the tablet to respond. He figures if the bloke on the other side is gracious enough to make the offer, he might as well put in a request. He's been itching to get started on a back-up communication system, but with most of the technology-inclined transports seemingly busy with generators and power grids and so forth, and Walter's general lack of social skills, he hasn't yet found the appropriate person to persuade into helping him.]

Radio transceivers. The sort that you can hold in your hand. I need a pair of good quality ones, or more if you can manage.

I was under the impression walkie-talkies were back-mounted units, but the general idea is the same. And you've hit the nail on the head, as far as their purpose. The radio technology and the transceivers will be good for setting up an emergency communications system.

I'm pretty okay with playin' other people's songs. I guess I have come up with a few instrumentals before, but man, I haven't done that in ages.

See, that's what I think when someone says "bard". Lutes 'n' lap harps and shit. Not just some guy with a guitar, like me. "Bard" sound way too damn fancy.

Thanks. [He manages a small smile.] This one's stolen directly out of 1983. Picked it up on a mission. Mine got left behind at the UE compound during the raid. It ain't quite the same, but it's better than nothin'. I was going crazy without one.
