Hello.

[On screen is a pleasant looking young woman with short blonde hair and red eyes that might be dimly glowing, or is that a trick of the light? Something about the way she's speaking - in a clear English accent - has the air of someone who's practiced this speech beforehand.]

My name is Seras Victoria, it's my first time addressing the network here so nice to meet you all.

I'd like to talk about another particular issue of resources on the moon, though this resource is er... a little different from the others.

Some of you may be aware that werewolves aren't the only supernatural creatures living among you. Some of us are vampires.

[She won't name any names, respecting the privacy of those who would rather not publically announce what they are.]

I'm asking if anyone here would be willing to volunteer to donate blood specifically for the vampire population. There would be no biting involved ~~Jan~~ and it would never more than once a week, depending on how many people volunteer.

[Seras smiles hopefully.]

I know it's possible that we could make a supply run to a hospital or blood bank somewhere using the transport system but I'd rather not take it from where it might damage lives. We could do with getting the medical equipment to collect and store the blood however. Bags and a fridge for example. If anyone with medical knowledge could help that would be appreciated.

To any other vampires out there, I know a couple of you but if you'd like to contact me, privately if you wish, to have access to whatever we manage to organise, please do.

Erm, when I said once a week, it would really be a month. My mistake.

[Knock-knock, Seras. There's a butler at your door.]

[Seras has been staring in a mixture of impatience and small nervousness at her tablet. Waiting for responses, anticipating the variety of responses she could receive. So far it had seemed to be positive.

She rises at the knock and steps over to answer it, when she sees Walter she's not entirely surprised.]

Hello, Walter. Come in.

[With squared shoulders and a straight-as-a-support-pillar spine, Walter looks tense. Or, tenser than normal. But if the expression on his face is anything to go by, it's not out of true anger.

At the invitation, he crosses the threshold and into the room. But, after two steps in, he stops.]

Why didn't you tell me that these idiots didn't have a proper supply of blood for you?

[She closes the door to face him, looking mildly apologetic but steadfast in the reasoning she explains.]

You were hurt, Walter. You didn't need that extra strain on top of the injuries you already had. And I've been alright, mostly, I've been trying to look through options.

Back on Earth they had a large bloodbank, plenty of donors, here... not so much.

I would have managed!

[It's said without thought; a knee-jerk reaction on Walter's part. But, rather than continue to argue the point defensively, he switches rapidly to a more offensive approach.]

When is the last time you drank?

[Seras chews her lips a little at the question.]

Almost two weeks. I've gone longer before though.

[Though that was before she had drank blood and after having tasted it and accepted it, it's even harder than her first self-imposed abstinence.]

[Levelling her with a sceptical look, Walter addresses the Draculina in a tone not unlike what a parent would use towards a child in need of a scolding.]

Miss Seras, you're stuck in a small facility with a large number of people jammed all close together at certain times of the day. Is it such an evil thing to ask for assistance before you actually need it?

[Which might sound hypocritical of him, given how resistant he was to help when Seras first found him. But in his mind, it's different; he isn't a vampire that could lose control of his thirst.]

I'm trying to sort it, not just for me but the other vampires here.

[Somehow though, the tone of his voice and his choice of words strike a chord in her. Sometime in his future and her past he'll use that phrase again and then she won't listen. In her own mind she's apologetic for the future difficulty she'll present him.

Outwardly she looks suitably chatised.]

No, I just... I'm sorry, Walter. I didn't mean any trouble.

[At the apology, Walter calms. His shoulders relax, his posture no longer quite ramrod-straight. He has accepted her apology, and her reasoning.]

Well, then. Let's sort it out together.

[She straightens her shoulders from where they sank and nods. After all, they are both Hellsing and Hellsing sticks together.]

Alright! Let's do so. I already got a response as to sorting out medical equipment and storage.

I'll see to the equipment's sterilization.

[Though since he's used to the grand day of when glass bottles and non-disposable needles were used in donations, it might take a little learning curve. Not too long, though.]

I could also help draw the blood if a nurse isn't available to help.

You know how to do that?

[She's impressed and wonders if maybe he's been involved in acquiring Alucard's blood already, back in those days.]

I'll have to see what they say.

Before I was allowed to fight for Hellsing, I helped out around the house. I still do.

[Well, he did before the Initiative interfered.]

I learned a lot of things most kids wouldn't learn until they're adults. Or at all, I suppose.

Handy to have, though.

[Now she looks curious however.]

How long have you been with Hellsing at this point?

[Although it's a question he would have expected from someone in his own time, Walter actually finds it somewhat curious that Seras has ventured to ask that particular query. Was she not aware of the details of his past?]

It's been five years now. You didn't know?

[His head tips to the side in a gesture of inquisitiveness, his eyes watching Seras closely as he awaits her answer.]

No. It's not something I ever thought to ask before.

[When she had the chance.]

I just didn't think you would have started so young.

[Which is true.]

They made an exception for me.

[A casual way of admitting that he was the only actual child-soldier of the organization to date.]

Have you gotten any willing donors yet?

Well, you are rather exceptional.

[She says completely seriously. Though still... it's very young to be doing such dangerous work. Hellsing must have worked very differently back then.

Seras picks up her tablet to check again, flicking through the responses and looks pleased.]

Oh! A few have already. [Never mind that a couple want things in exchange but it's a start.] That's a good sign.

It is. And here I was about to force you to drink.

[Walter's reply holds a good humour exceedingly rare during his time on the moonbase. He's positively chuffed by the compliment Seras has paid him, and it shows.

It's also very good news that there are a few souls willing to part with something as precious as their blood for the sake of someone who most would have been afraid of on account of her status as a vampire. He's glad, at least, that one of Hellsing's own has a much smaller chance of losing her mind due to her vampiric thirst.]

[She smiles at him, cheered up immensely by Water's own chipperness.]

Believe me, as soon as it's on the table I'll be downing it like a champ.

[Seras laughs at her own words but also betrays how hungry she's really feeling here as well.]

Hopefully we can keep all of us fed to a level.

Hopefully.

[It's the ideal, at least. But other vampires aside, Walter has no intention of letting Seras go hungry even if there aren't a sufficient amount of donors for the lot of them.

That settled and out of the way, Walter's mind switches gears. All this talk of donations has reminded him of something.

Pulling his tablet out of his waistcoat and unfolding it, Walter cues the device to exit its hibernation stage with the intent to show Seras what exactly it is that he is about to talk about.]

And speaking of donors, some bloke a couple of days ago might have tried to point me in the direction of a fake charity. He called it the "Extra for Exiles" fund, but when I asked a man who claimed to be in a sort of official position between the transports here and the initiative, he said he hadn't heard of it.

[Seras leans over curiously.]

What? Why would someone to do that? Who was it?

He didn't say his name.

[But Walter manages to pull the archive of the conversation up It's entirely audio, so there's unfortunately no view to be had.]

And he was probably doing it just to get back at me for calling him a lazy freeloader.

[And here Walter runs into a bit of a problem. He hasn't figured how to make the whole thing play back yet.]

Bugger. You wouldn't happen to know how to make this thing go play archived audio recordings, would you?

[Seras takes the tablet from him and, holding the screen so Walter can see, finds the playback option and hits it.

She listens and then blinks, frowns, then looks exasperated.]

I met this boy before, Teshigawara Naoya, he seemed nice enough... Though apparently not above a prank or two.

You really shouldn't call people names like that, Walter.

[As the first words of the recordings play, a pleased smile stretches over Walter's face at having learned something new and of future use.

But, when Seras finally speaks and mentions the youth's name, the smile turns into one revealing of Walter's own mischievous streak. He already has something planned for the brat.]

He deserved it. All he did was make excuses and then try to waste my time. I've already promised someone I would look into working on a more reliable back-up communication system.

[And from Walter's perspective, he had tried to be helpful first. The name-calling had only come once the boy had displayed a pronounced unwillingness to learn.]
