[It's been a long time since he's had to think about this. Peter hasn't been an astronaut in years, and at some point he just became so used to space that he didn't even think about how to adapt to all the changes anymore.

So here he is: one very tired looking man, with a chipped mug full of coffee, and a well-worn uniform, because he's got to do something and space is his thing and somebody's got to do something to help, and the person to do something has always been him.]

So, to start this whole thing off, I guess I'd better introduce myself. My name is Peter Quill. I'm the Star-Lord, and the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. I don't expect you to have heard of us around here, what with all the many wonderful alternate universe options available. But we're very much around, and we're going do whatever we can to get some of this mess fixed up.

[Swear to god Gamora and Adam you had better not dare contradict him on that.]

Before I was the Star-Lord, though, I used to be an astronaut. Our space base was a little bit fancier than this, when I was around, but it was pretty much the same set-up, so I figured I would offer up some advice on how to deal with living in a place like this.

First, you might have noticed the moon doesn't abide by Earth hours anymore. Really try to make yourself keep to them anyway, because otherwise you're going to be in for a really rough ride and we'll probably run out of coffee way before the week's out. Repair guys, if we could maybe get something running to simulate a natural cycle, that would help a lot.

[Not that he even notices it anymore. One reason for all that coffee: he's been so many places that his system is probably fucked for good.]

You might have noticed that this place is technically really small. You may start to feel a little bit cramped, or start sleeping a lot, or start getting really paranoid that your roommate might be stealing your stuff or trying to kill you in your sleep. That's called cabin fever, and if you think you have it, try to get the hell out of here and take some kind of mission that gets you back on Earth, because you're doing nobody any favors trying to tough it out or pretend it's not happening. Especially since we're all going to be here for the foreseeable future.

[He can't really pretend he's happy about that, either, but at least he's used to having no privacy and living in close quarters with other people by now. Even people he kind of hated! It's amazing what you can get used to.]

Oh, and all that freeze-dried food is going to get really old, really fast. I'm not kidding. That crap is awful. Trust me, you will get sick of it so fast you won't even believe it was possible. So whoever ends up being responsible for restocking supplies, I beg you to try to get anything that lasts that's not that.

[Pause, for a dramatic sip of coffee.]

If you've got anything else you're worried about, feel free to come ask me about it. I'll be around.

Adam, Gamora- we're going to try to set up base in the first convenient reclaimed space there is, so until then we're gonna have to operate out of someone's bedroom. And so help me Gamora, if you left behind that coffee pot, it's on you to replace it. I don't care if it might not even work, it's the principle of the thing.

There isn't much we can do aside from helping others adjust to life outside of Earth's barriers. And you have done that. You've given sound advice, and done all you can for now.

I don't plan on using my bedroom. We can have that as our temporary base as long as you and Gamora can leave your fight over a coffee pot behind. [That means please behave.]

At least your moon is better than Earth.

( spoilers: gamora is thrilled to be back in space. who cares about exsilium being blown up when you can look out a window and see stars again. )

[He's always felt so much better in space. Like he was actually somewhere he belonged, in space.]

Everybody else, though. They're not all up for this kind of thing, Gamora.

[That was...realistic, he supposes, but kind of a downer, from Adam. He's never actually heard him say before "there isn't anything you can do." It's always, here's a problem, we need to do something about it. He likes that, about Adam. It's what made him such a good Guardian.]

Hey, the coffee pot is serious business. It was mine, and she took it behind my back- [While you weren't even here, Pete.] - and if she's not going to give it back she'd best take damn good care of it.

[All jokes aside...it's not like Adam to be so. Defeatist? Something.]

Anyway. Adam. [...Just gonna come right out and ask.] Are you doing all right?

[He had an entity that was a part of his soul for like forever reject him angrily, and not being able to save everyone bums him out. Watching a planet get bombed makes him think of Counter Earth but otherwise, he's...]

I'm fine. Settle your business with Gamora. We'll look to explore the rest of this moon as soon as we can.

[It weighs pretty heavily on Peter, too. He's no stranger to difficult decisions, and having to make sacrifices for the sake of saving the greater cause- how many times has he been through that, now? Three times? Four? Has he hit the point of no longer being able to count them all? He gets it. But there isn't anything he can do about it but move forward, now, and be damn sure they can make that kind of sacrifice count.]

If you say so. I'm not going to pry. [That's his way of saying he thinks that was bullshit, without using the words bullshit. Or maybe he's only projecting his own guilt, over this and other things. Adam doesn't remember Peter failing to kill him.] We should be able to do that soon. It's not like any of us aren't mostly already equipped to go out there whenever we want.

I'm getting really paranoid that my roommate might be stealing my stuff and/or trying to kill me in my sleep. I thought killing him first might solve the problem. Thoughts?

I think your roommate has been a remarkably patient man given the long list of your...eccentricities he's being asked to deal with. Beginning with totally unwarranted death threats.

Perhaps my roommate should be appreciative that he's yet to find himself seriously harmed. Not all of us live well with others.

A good point, if not particularly unfamiliar or much of a deterrent. Your roommate has always carried stun rounds for a reason.

Phasers set to stun?

Wouldn't we all. But I'm the one with space guns and a space suit, so I get to be Captain Kirk. Not that you're much of a Spock, really.

Hey, they don't just let any schmuck be an astronaut. Not even back in the day. And I certainly know more about space than you.

Knowledge of space is hardly the only measurement of intelligence.

Do you know if there's a way to scan to see if there's a Blue Area on this version of the Moon? Being able to go for a walk will relieve the cabin fever some.
