[ piper's communicator clicks on with a scream. ]

— Yeah. I'm going to need a little help over here.

[ frozen — literally — in the air is a thick book piper had accidentally knocked off the table in her room. the book and a good portion of table have been affected by her power. it's ice, crystallised, and is smoking a little as ice would do. ]

Those guys who attacked the party — I got the memo that they could stop powers from working, but can they turn you evil? Because … Eh. [ she's panicking. ] This is bad. This is very, very bad.

[ she is very, very confused, and very, very concerned. the last time she had this power it was very, very bad. ]

I can't help when I'm like this!

Handymen repairs things. Doors, walls, frozen furniture. [ she says it with a laugh. ] My husband could probably heal this right back up. [ her tone shifts, turning a bit harder. piper misses leo. she doesn't understand how he can't hear her calls, except for being on a completely other plane. ] But he's not here.

Ah, so similar to a carpenter. [this modern world and it's different words!!

She turns back to focus on the table, finally freeing the leg from floor. She pauses for a moment]

. . . you must miss him, yes?

[ piper's about to say yes, that's essentially what it is, but she brings up leo, and leo trumps all. ] I do. Very much.

It's just like everyone else in this place. They miss their family. Some are lucky, or unlucky, enough to have someone here with them.

[oh piper if you only knew. Tempest ignites her spell again, dealing quickly with the rest of the ice]

Mm . . . I suppose that is true.

[ piper doesn't really think much of it, simply going back to watch tempest save her furniture. ] You could really start a business. Become a superhero for furniture.

[she snorts quietly, amused] I have already been told I've a superhero-esque name. It may be possible.

[ oh, right, piper really sucks at this whole hi my name is __ thing. hopefully it doesn't sound too callous when she says: ] And what's that?

It is Tempest. [it doesn't sound callous at all; Tempest is still getting used to the "introduce yourself like a normal person" thing anyway]

[ tempest sounds like tempos, which causes piper's heart to jump before settling back down. they'd defeated tempus, not once, but twice, though the second had been purely by accident. ] That's a nice name. Unusual, too.

And I'm Piper. Just in case you get a note from my furniture thanking you for saving them from me.
