[ there's an awkward second of someone fumbling with the device. when scott steps back a second later, the reason's obvious: he's trying to get it to balance on his desk, giving a clear view of both him and isaac standing a few feet off. ]

Hey. My name's Scott. I was here once before, so I guess I don't really have any questions.

[ except for maybe why am i back, but he knows that'd just be wasting time. anyway, they're broadcasting for a reason, and that's not it. ]

I know stuff is really weird here, like angels and superheroes and shapeshifters, so I don't really get the point in— [ keeping secrets? that's pretty broad. he obviously didn't map this speech out, so rather than making more of a mess he just stumbles for the finish line. ] I'm a werewolf. If you have a problem with that, let me know.

[ there's no challenge in his tone. it sounds more like "sorry, but we can probably talk it out". he almost steps forward to end the feed there, catching himself abruptly to add: ]

Isaac too. [ And Isaac offers a casual little wave at that, in the midst of all his eyerolling at Scott's... presentation of sorts. Really, Scott. ]

People are missing and people are hurt, and we want to help, but we can't do anything if we're too busy hiding. [ which is the real point of this, except hold up, one last thing. ] And we know there's a full moon in a few days, but we aren't crazy and we won't hurt anyone.

( ooc: icly the day after the party/kidnappings. all dialogue is scott's because isaac is rude, but replies will come from one or both! )

[there's a few long seconds of peter just sort of staring at the camera, his expression somewhere between freaking and incredulous.]

I really hope you know what the fuck you're doing.

[ wow okay, questions he wasn't expecting to be fielding. ]

Um. A person who turns into a wolf? But we don't... actually turn into wolves.

[ what the what. this child is making no sense, SQUINT. ]

So you're defined by something you don't do. What do you do?

It's okay. We can take care of ourselves, and there are already some people who know. And trust me, there are way weirder things here.

[ he sounds really sure. well, mostly sure. he's kind of still trying to convince himself that this was a good idea. ]

[Isaac just shakes his head.]

I really hope Scott knows what he's doing. [Is the gist of it.]

[A beat. She adds, uncertainly:]

I do not . . . I have no problems with it. But I do not know what you are. I am a kitrite, though.

[peter, on the other hand, not so much. not that scott has outed him yet, but what the hell is he going to do now?]

( It's not like a squirrel will use the network. He barely understands that such a magical communication invention exists; and today he's merely running endurance rounds up and down the fire escapes, scampering across higher windows as he surveys the immediate area.

Only he stops now to knock on a window form which he has heard a most disturbing thing. )

( Asks a partially plate armored squirrel holding on to the outer sill of their window. )

Pray tell, did I hear you say beware of wolves?

[ we grow sideburns? no, don't say that. ]

We're strong? And I can basically smell everything.

[ don't you want to sign up for this. but pardon the slight derailment, because how haven't you heard of werewolves. ] Where are you from?

Right. Werewolves.

[He takes a deep breath.]

You know, on full moons, turn into wolf beasts and eviscerate people. [Pause.] ...without the eviscerating. On Scott and my part, anyway.

[he thought you had more sense than this, isaac. so much more sense. he's holding the tablet, but he's obviously agitated, pacing.]

Yeah, well. They come for you, you can fight.

I guess I'll fucking figure out something.

That's all?

[ god she looks so unimpressed. which filters for a second into concern, because what if he's heard of her world, and what if they have werewolves there that she missed out on by sleeping through 200 years... eh, it'll probably be fine. ]

Krynn. We have direwolves, but I've never heard of werewolves.

[ he asks before realizing manners probably warrant answering her question first. which dang, that's two for three. ]

People who turn into wolves on the full moon. Or sort of wolves. Wolf... people. [ that seems to somehow be lacking in clarity, so: ] We mostly still look human.

[Isaac fails to see how this is a problem right now.]

And he has a point. There's freaking half-bears here and nobody cares about them.

[She tilts her head.]

You should not say that part, then. Can you control when you turn if it is not the full moon?

[She tilts her head, showing off her long-tipped ears.]

We are like elves, do you know what that is? There is one other of my kind here.

Nobody's going to look. There's way too much going on anyway, and— if they did, we wouldn't let them hurt you.

[ scott's absolutely confident about that, at least. peter's so different that this being a problem for him hadn't really occurred to scott, but he's realizing a bit too late that he should have told him it was coming. ]

I'm sorry.

Yeah. And, I mean, we can control it on the full moon too.

[He just sort of shrugs.]

We're not dangerous or anything. Scott just wants to help, and we're- you know, good trackers and stuff.

Yeah and the hairy guy who hangs out with the werewolves is what?

[he's trying to rein it in, though, because isaac isn't exactly thrilled either.]

Half-bears, or werebears?

I would advertise that you are dangerous, so enemies do not come after you. But if you would like to be known as-- as a good tracker, I will tell others.

Well if you don't want to be seen with us-

[It's a little more defensive than it probably should be. But goddamnit Peter, if you make him choose between you two, you already know his answer. Even if he's not 100% behind Scott.]

I don't know. People who hulk out and turn into a bear person during a sparring match. [It was a long time ago, his memory is fuzzy.]

This is not a short-term problem. Eventually too much will not be going on and someone will look for something new to do.

[he sighs and scrubs his hands over his face. peter really doesn't like when his own safety goes so far out of his control.]

[ it's not like a squirrel appearing on the windowsill is startling. but then it talks, and then scott nearly falls over in his haste to jump away from the window. which is totally normal and not at all embarrassing for a werewolf with superpowers, thanks.

either way he ends up almost tripping on his desk chair, but he recovers enough to look like he's just idly considering taking a seat. ]

[ come on, angels and superheroes and who knows what else; he can handle a talking squirrel who happens to be wearing armor. ]

Uh— [ or not. he gives up on that failed attempt, glancing to isaac. he doesn't look freaked out so much as intensely bemused. either way, please help. ]
