[ Ahh yes, here he is again, your resident robot. ]

Since there seems to be an influx of new people suddenly, I'd like to extend my invitation for a free living space to all. My name is Drift. I've been fixing up this old building, I assume it was a factory of some kind. I find myself at a surplus of empty rooms.

Anyone is welcome to stay here long term or short term, you will have a room of your own, privacy and my protection as you are under my roof.

I only ask that you are peaceful and do not disturb the others living here.

That said, if anyone would like to donate any human-sized beds or furnishings, I would be very grateful, as I am not asking money of anyone who stays.

If you have any questions or would like to come stay here, don't hesitate to ask. I don't bite.

And smashing is more of a large-bodied mech sort of deal. I prefer something more elegant. Besides, that's messy.

[ He's had much worse, she is comparatively charming. ]

Never been a fan of knights, stuck up fuckin' lot with their ~honour~ and law upholding or whatever, but shit sakes a mechanical knight! The folk of the future have been damn busy buildin' away, huh? How'd they do the energy thing, is that magic?

[ Clearly that explanation went right over her head, because she is now eying him rather intently. ] Some mechanical genius built you and gave you an energy heart to feel all sorts of feelings and shit with, how isn't that magic?

Well then they shouldn't be knights.

[ To be fair, Apollo is a shit disturber so she probably deserved it. In any case she forgets about her distaste for knights in favour of going on to blurt out, ] God what how, what are you!! [ Because she is nosy and must know. ]

Huh. [ She stops asking a million questions now, instead sitting there looking thoughtful for a moment. ] Wow. Some people back home think my species is fuckin' weird with our gryphon thing, but goddamn they'd flip their shit if they ever got a load of your crazy metal ass.

Not entirely! But I'm uh, reeeeally watered down so I'm mostly human. Got these though! [ She turns around for a moment and fluffs out a little pair of owl-like wings that had previously been tucked in against her back. They're a complete mess with feathers sticking out every which way and half of the left wing is physically gone, but they're definitely wings nonetheless. ] The full blood folk got proper wings and other animal shit but y'know I gotta say, I'm kinda glad I don't have a tail.

[ He grins, looking suddenly delighted. That's just like some of the anime he's watched. Excuse him, he's going to attempt to contain himself. ]

Wow! Those are so cool! I kind of have something like that.

[ He turns around so the screen is facing his back. There are two wing-like clips that frame the sword he carries on his shoulders. He manages to shuffle them just a tiny bit, nowhere near what might actually be considered 'wings' but he seems proud. ]

So what species are you then?

They used to be cooler when they were actually all there. [ His enthusiasm makes her grin and laugh then, clearly entertained by his little metallic not-wings. ]

We're called Gryps, some kinda humanlike descendant of the original gryphons. What happened between then and now not a soul knows but I mean, hello we're here now so who gives a shit!

I bet! Could you fly? I bet you could fly!

Hmm. I can't say I know what a gryphon is, but it sounds really cool.

Naw, I never could. Too much human in me, my wings turned out too small so they ain't built for flyin' anyway. My grampa's got the proper Gryp wings though, he can fly! Or I dunno, he's as old as the damn sun now and they might not work anymore, but they used to.

Gryphons are part lion, part eagle and all big and powerful! Hard to find now, but there's gotta still be a few out there somewhere.

Hmm. Your people live a long time then? How old can you get?

[ That's hard to imagine. He has to really think hard about what those animals look like, having spent a minimal amount of time on Earth. ]

That sounds like a fearsome creature. Powerful. What happened to them?

Well, bit longer than humans anyway. Most of the full bloods have no problem gettin' past one hundred but I dunno about us hybrids.

[ At the last question, Apollo shrugs. ] Fuck if I know. Mysterious bunch, been drivin' history people nuts for ages.

Uh. [ She sits there thinking about how best to describe her upbringing before finally settling on something. ] Had my grampa and my sisters, but lookin' at the past ain't ever been a hobby.

Me? Well I'm just a different species. Different planet. I mean, some mechs will tell you about the science of it, I'd tell you the more spiritual side. Depends on what people think is right, I guess.

I suppose, the easiest way to think of it is that a human or otherwise, is just an organic machine, is it not?
