Um. So does anyone have experience writing scripts? Or an interest in theater? Because I think I could use a few pointers...

[There's a slight pause before Asbel clarifies, and a muffled thump that might be a book closing.]

It's for the upcoming talent competition. The one at the end of the month? Some of us were thinking about putting a short play together for it.

[Asbel knew it'd be a lot of work, but he hadn't thought scripts could be so tiring! He's sitting outside one of the Hold's training rooms. Excalibur lays on the bench beside him, and he has a towel draped across his neck while he tries to cool down from the morning's routine. But in his hand...is this. He'd decided to read up on what plays and fairytales he could find in the library, but this script doesn't even make any sense! How are you supposed to figure out the characters' intentions when they keep talking about completely random things?!]

[He continues to read out loud, occasionally offering his own commentary as he attempts to make heads and tales of the text.]

"When the devout religion. Of my eye maintains such falsehood, then turns tears to fires. And these, who often drowned, could never die." But wait, if they drowned, then wouldn't they already be dead?

[A groan, but he resumes.]

"Transparent heretics, be burnt for liars. One fairer than my love. The all-seeing sun never saw her match since the world first began." So...he's in love with the sun? Hold on! But that doesn't make any sense at all! I thought he was supposed to be in love with a girl from an enemy House? Why would he be in love with the sun? Unless, it means he likes riding off and doing things outdoors.

[Asbel sighs in exasperation, closing the booklet and slumping in his seat.] Okay, what the hell did I just read?

[OOC Note: CR, if they wish, are welcome to assume that Asbel has already mentioned the talent competition to them and proposed the idea of putting together a group performance of some kind.]

[Have another groan, some static as Asbel digs his tablet out. Why is he hearing Kaneis' voice? Yeah, that's not a good sign.]

Well last I checked I'm not a disembodied voice soooo- yep! Looks like you did!

You know, that's too bad. For a minute there, I thought you might be able to make yourself invisible. [He didn't really think so.]

But anyway, no, I never studied poetry. I was pretty engrossed in my sword training back then.

[And Asbel isn't going to ask just how bad it was. He knows better.]

Hm, can't blame you. Anyway, most of that stuff's metaphors. He's not actually in love with the sun.

[Erika hears his, uh, interesting recital and comes forward.]

That's from Romeo and Juliet. You really can't understand it...? Hm you ever been in love? That's a very basic play...

[ As Sophie leaves one of the training rooms, she overhears her father reciting some of the lines. Wow, a lot of what Asbel's reading just flies over her head! Yeah, what is he reading? ]

...Asbel, who's in love with the sun?

Play, huh? Too bad my sister isn't here, she'd be all over that.

[Uh-oh, someone said "theater", "talent" and "play" in the same breath... this is almost like saying an ancient ghost's name three times to summon it. Or, in this case, summoning a very perky and familiar girl. ... With her even more familiar voice, even.]

You're putting on a play?

[Yep, she sure sounds excited!]

I guess. It'd be good for reconnaissance, at least. [Kaneis being invisible is actually a somewhat terrifying concept in all honesty.]

So he's comparing the girl he's in love with to the sun? [He sounds doubtful.] I'm not sure that's much better.

[Asbel glances up guiltily at the approaching girl. He hopes he wasn't distracting her or anything with this horrible piece of literature.]

Oh! Well, it is pretty difficult to tell what the characters are saying? I mean, they keep going on about swans and crows and envious worms...

[At the mention of love, Asbel manages to look both perplexed and slightly embarrassed. What does that have to do with someone else's play?]

So, um... You're saying this is supposed to be basic?

Is your sister an actress?

She's done it all. Theatre's one of her big passions. She keeps inviting me to her plays, too. Sometimes she even drags me into acting with her, though I don't do it that often.

[It doesn't help that Asbel's not paying much attention to his tablet screen and whose name's showing up on it. He's trying to find his place in the booklet again without dropping either, and hearing that oh-so-familiar and predictably excited voice, he can't help but assume.]

Well, yeah. I could've sworn I told you this already?

But I don't think there are any princesses in this one. Actually, from what I can make out, the whole thing's pretty depressing.

... You did?

[She sounds confused now.]

I don't really remember. But I'd love to help! ... Maybe we could even find something less depressing?

[This world is sad enough without putting on a sad play.]

Oh, hey Sophie!

[Asbel smiles when he sees her, raising the booklet in his hand to indicate it.]

Well, it's this guy in the play I'm reading. His name's Romeo.

( Karina had decided that it was time to check out what this whole 'network' thing, and it was just her luck that this was one on of the first broadcasts that she'd come across. )

What's this about a talent competition?

Wow, that's a boring answer for what you'd do with invisibility! [It really really should be]

Noooo. He's saying that there's been no girl more beautiful than the one he loves since the world began!

[She can't help giggling into her hand.]

Well... it's a beginner play. Most people learn it. I read it in basic English first because the language was a little hard for me. But passages of it come up in English literature so often I started to recognise it. It's not my native language, you see.

[Erika sits down beside him and points to the passage.]

This is showing Romeo's refusal to consider anyone other than Juliet. She's so beautiful to him that even the sun can't compare to her 'brightness'. Most of his rambling is about how perfect Juliet is to him.

Elmer Albatross is the one in charge of it. It's being held on the evening of the 27th, but last time I checked, a venue hadn't been decided upon yet.

They're looking for people with cool talents to compete for prizes. A panel of judges will decide the winners.

You've got a better one? [He probably shouldn't be asking, but he's kind of curious what the Great Kaneis has in mind here. Actually, he thought his idea was pretty good.]

Um. [You can tell he's still not quite following this Romeo's mindset. He gets that Juliet was kind and beautiful and that he's in love with her and all, however--] But unless he was around back then, there's know way he'd know that for sure.

Well yeah. [WHY DID YOU ASK THIS. He'll keep it tame...for now] I mean think of all the places you could go that you normally can't, dude!

[And he just gives a sigh] Wow. You really don't know how romancing works, do you?

So if I'm interested in participating I should get in touch with him?

Yeah, that'd be best. He's the person you get in touch with about signing up. There actually weren't any other contacts listed on the posters, so I'm not really sure who else is involved in setting things up. But Elmer seemed extremely motivated about it, and even offered suggestions when I asked about a group performance.
