so new york isn't a state where you're from? like, part of the united states of america? with california and hawaii and stuff?

What! A state? Like, as in part of a larger organization of states? Heck no! We're proud and independent. Is it like that where you're from? (With California?!)

i didn't mean to insult it or anything! it's just most people i've talked to who're from there say it's called the united states. it's a big country divided into smaller states... at least that's what we learned about it in school! if it helps new york and california are at opposite ends though

what was it like for you

Yeah, I know! I got an international transfer to do my university studies out in California. And they made so much fun of my accent out there, the jerks! No, for us New York is an independent country, then above us is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Providence Plantations, Quebec above them...Down to the south we have the Republic of Pennsylvania, and then there's Delaware. West we have The Ohio, then it's just a patchwork of Nations of the indigenous peoples until you get out to the old Spanish lands. That's so weird that they're all one country. (P.S., I'm not insulted, just surprised!)

yeah those are all states! except it's just massachusetts and pennsylvania, not the commonwealth of massachusetts and the republic of pennsylvania

so you didn't have like colorado or utah or anything if it's all different out west?

I know we have the Uta nation living out there, but no Colorado, no. This is strange! I didn't know things were so different.

have you talked to anyone else about it? maybe other people are from a world where things are the way you described too

I haven't! I'm usually focused on the future, I guess-- I hope there's someone out there with a world like mine! I like mine! Also, good knowledge of geography. I'm impressed!

oh i'm really bad at memorizing things so i spent like two weeks going over the states because i didn't want to fail geography! so it's not really that impressive but thanks haha

You don't have a natural affinity for it but you worked really hard and learned it anyway. What part of that isn't impressive?

You better believe what I'm saying, too. Natural ability is okay. Hard work and determination is better. I know that sounds totally sappy, but I made it through a couple of really tough schools and that's what I learned.
