what's the coolest thing you've ever done on a mission or the best place you've gone

OR hypothetically if you could choose one place to go for a mission what place would you want to go? i'm curious

( It's a good thing the frustration she feels with this sometimes is very subtle; she mostly lets her humor rise up, since it's far more absurd and amusing than it is frustrating. )

He complains, he's lazy, he's rude and a jerk most the time, and boy, you cannot get him to make the first move. Or the second! Or really the third... but he cares about people in spite of himself, and he sticks by you even when most people would get fed up and walk away. He's so smart! Even if he doesn't get people as people when it comes to personal relationships, I think that's more from never really getting to hang around people his own age than being honestly stupid.

... No, maybe it is just honest stupidity.

( Sounding contemplative over the last...

But she figures Break will at least hear the part that matters so much to her. She sees a lot of innate good and worth in everyone; but that's not it. Caesar hasn't walked away, when it'd be the easiest thing in the world. )

[ Xerxes Break is unimpressed. ]

Why, when you speak like that, I must saaaay. I can see why you like him so much. But if I might say so, I really do believe that you could find a young man more worthy of your attentions.

( She giggles. Suuure, suuuuure. )

Oh really? Name three!

( For the sake of amusement. She takes Break the opposite of anything vaugely serious right now.

Granted, she could tell him about her other crush, gone for a long time now, but Al -- Jason -- managed to sound sort of worse than Caesar on paper... )

( Now she just sounds curious. Oh! Okay! She's got this! He's a sounding board and devil's advocate!

... Or a stand in for her brother, but she had a feeling Phil would have been, uh, much more direct if he seriously didn't like someone Collette was seeing. Or pulled an Adam, minus the suggestion of bringing alcohol along -- not that she knew what Adam's advice to Jason had actually been at the time. )

[ He doesn't understand what she's saying half the time. Kids. Kids. ]

It just - it seems to me that you're making excuses for him.

He's a cricket! He acts as Pinocchio's conscience, because before he was a real boy, he was a puppet, and he didn't have a full conscience of his own. So the cricket helped him out, tried to make him understand what was right and what was wrong!

( She explains after the fact, recalling hazy details of the disney film and of a reading of the book from her younger years.

But she does listen, and she manages not to laugh. Break's kind of saying he's concerned, after all. And this is something she can actually understand. )

I guess I don't see it that way, 'cause he's been exactly who he has been for a long time now. He isn't the kind of guy who says that he cares or doesn't care. But I knew that before, and what he does say means a lot more than "I like you" or "I think you're pretty." He wouldn't be around if he didn't care, and I really think he doesn't get how to socialize with people his age. I've been so proud, watching him make friends with Oz and Lenalee!

( You aren't supposed to sound proud about the fact he's accomplishing this as if you had anything to do with it, Collette. )

I like him for who he is, not for who he isn't. Caesar slept in my hospital room the whole time I was in there in June. Did you know that? He didn't leave. He complained, about the food, about other stuff, but he was there. I didn't ask him to be.

( She offers. )

That's the kindof man he is. He doesn't tell you the easy things, but he acts on them. He's rude usually 'cause he doesn't think about what he's saying before he does, or he's too blunt, and he doesn't bother with social niceties. But a lot of his sense of humor kind of reminds me of you, you know!

( ... aka, he's a troll. )

Dry and subtle when you're not overacting like a clown. Definitely sarcastic.

( She lapses into silence, realizing she's rambling on at length... and truly, there's not one reason for Break to care to here her natter on like this. Explaining people like this -- that's what she does. For all her friends, and no less for her boyfriend than she had for Caesar before then, or Oz for others, or Lenalee, or Adam, or Barnaby, or Miles Edgeworth.

Or even Break. She just wants people to have an idea of how to understand each other. Collette isn't even entirely aware of that drive. )

[ Urrrghghghggghhh, he's being an idiot. By criticizing Caesar, he is spurring Collette to defend him. The mind of a teenager, honestly. ]

Ahahaha, well I suppose I shall have to take your word for it.

[ He reaches out, to ruffle her hair. ]

But don't fault me for believing that you're worthy of the very best.

( Easier to say nothing and let them reach their own conclusions, however slow or fast.

She snorts, letting him get away with the hair ruffle with minimum fuss. )
