[In 304, a nun in an ash stained provincial dress and a half elf from the Times of Yore are crowded around a tablet propped up at the table. By the expressions ranging from serious to annoyed, some sort of argument has just taken place between the two of them.

Rosette is the one to address the network, as if proving a point in the simple asking.]

So! Hypothetically, if someone were going on a mission and needed to blend into the turn of the millennium, average working class crowd... what would you wear?
hyanaimne: Your head is empty. (Dolle naa lost.)

[she makes a face at the thought]

Yes, and I would like to avoid that. Quite a bit.
tearsinnajar: (There's no one here to save)

['Turn of the millenium' could have a fairly broad meaning for someone who didn't live through the '90's. It's probably a good idea not to turn them onto layered hairstyles, flannel, or slip dresses.]

Tee shirts and jeans are a safe bet. They have been since the 1970's or so.
hyanaimne: Perhaps. (Maethe.)

[personal profile] hyanaimne 2013-08-27 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I see. And the 1970s are . . . years?
tearsinnajar: (But I'm not drowning)

[personal profile] tearsinnajar 2013-08-27 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
[She nods.]

Popular fashion started getting a lot more casual in the second half of the twentieth century. Tee shirts and jeans are mass produced and a lot more inexpensive than tailored suits or dresses.
hyanaimne: Storm bringer. (Arrn’ess.)

[personal profile] hyanaimne 2013-08-27 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. That is good to know . . . I am not much for dresses.
tearsinnajar: (Getting high off of saying)

[personal profile] tearsinnajar 2013-08-27 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, you won't be expected to wear one.
hyanaimne: Magic. (Default)

[personal profile] hyanaimne 2013-08-27 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
[she looks SO relieved. Rubs at her face]

Good.
tearsinnajar: (Swear you know best)

[personal profile] tearsinnajar 2013-08-27 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
[While there were times when she indulged her feminine side with the occasional casual dress, she'd always been far more fond of the practicality a good durable pair of pants afforded. She nods in agreement.]

I can't say I'm a big fan of them either.
hyanaimne: I don't care. (Amin uuma malia.)

[personal profile] hyanaimne 2013-08-27 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
They are too restricting . . . and in some cases, revealing. [she gestures to her own tunic] I have yet to find clothes that are more comfortable then these.
tearsinnajar: (But you'll never see)

[personal profile] tearsinnajar 2013-08-27 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Once you find something that works for you, it almost becomes a uniform.

[She had quite a number of roughly similar button-up blouses waiting for her at home.]
hyanaimne: Step aside. (Iorwe.)

[personal profile] hyanaimne 2013-08-27 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, something like that.

[or a trademark. Her cloak was like that]
