I'm glad so many are turning their energies toward each other, holding events that can distract from the unpleasant atmosphere outside of the Hold.
Yet even so, resentment and suspicion remain, coming from the hearts of the inhabitants of this city and island. Jealousy, too, in places. I wondered at first, but...
How is it we are sent to see the sun in a cleaner sky while the people this whole, abstract idea was built for linger in this gloomy place? It was safe enough, given the strengths of many of us here. Many good people. And even then, some would say the benefits outweigh the risks and take the chance regardless of threat.
I only know if it were myself denied the sun and strangers given the means to see it, I am sure I would be resentful, too. And as much as I could and do understand the notion of keeping safe...it almost seems crueler, to remain trapped here with no respite.

Guess there's people like the UE all over the place.

I wonder, sometimes, if it was the UE. I doubt it, but...

We do know they're attacking our worlds. How long has that been happening?

That instance, as far as I'm aware, was the first. Given the reaction of our keepers, it has to be.

Yeah, they were taken surprise. Still, they've been telling us for a while that the UE's been draining resources from our worlds.

....Haven't they?

We have little proof but what we've seen with our own eyes – and what we've been told. There's as much reason to trust it to be true as there is to doubt it, but we must all believe the possibility is there.

Yeah... One thing I've learned is people will bend the truth for their own military agendas.

[He doesn't want to think of the UE attacks as all having been staged by the Initiative to get them riled up and eager to fight, but he can't help it.]

But suspicions and doubt shouldn't keep one from doing what is right – what is right in the light of things in front of them. There is no way of knowing what was truly right until the end.
