[taijiya]

[The video feed clicks on followed by a clatter and a happy meow; unfortunately the only view is of the Hold’s ceiling, but familiar voices of Sango and Kagura follow.]

Kirara, there you are! How long has it been?

Sango. [Kagura does not sound amused at all, a tone of distaste in her voice. She picks up the tablet, handing it over to Sango. Kagura’s not in normal attire; in fact, her hair is all done up with ornaments and she seems to be wearing a wedding dress, her face covered by a partly ripped up veil. ] It’s yours.

Oh? She must have turned it on accidentally. [Sango takes the tablet and looks into it; sporting a similar updo and dress, with Kirara perched on her shoulder, she gives Exsilium a faint, somewhat weary smile.] Well, hello, then. We just returned from a mission, actually. Are all of them really so frustrating?

Like you can talk. [Kagura gives Sango a glance. She’s been through hell and back, and Sango had it easy.] I want my clothing and my fan. I could kill someone right now. Kicking him in the groin wasn’t enough for me. [She addresses Sango.] Why couldn’t I kill him, again?

Because there are things he still needs to do that will ultimately lead to the defeat of the United Earth, supposedly. [She sounds dubious at best, but turns to the tablet.] Anyway, what did we miss?

It just seems like a lot of trouble to go through.

Anyway, basically, she works for my enemy. Not voluntarily, but regardless. He's not here, though, so there's no real need to be all that antagonistic. [Frown.] Save for Kagura's innate antagonism, I guess.

[strategic_guile]

I'm willing to go through it if you have secrets you want to keep.

[He knows all about secrets, but there are few who know that.]

She's just angry by nature, huh?

[taijiya]

Well, it's not much of a secret, more of a 'my business is my business' thing, if that makes sense.

[She's not planning on spilling why Naraku is her enemy, so she's okay for now.]

Well, she has reasons to be, I suppose. Perhaps not the best reasons, but still.

[strategic_guile]

[He assures her.] It does.

Reasons or excuses? I've never learned the difference.

Who is it that I should be worried about coming here?

[taijiya]

Well, his name is Naraku. Kagura and I would know immediately if he came to Exsilium and we would warn everyone, though...

[A contemplative frown.]

But in the event that we end up leaving, watch for giant demon wasps or a man in a baboon suit, and stay very, very far away.

[strategic_guile]

...a man in a baboon suit?

[His voice is more neutral and maybe slightly disbelieving.]

Where would he get giant wasps? Do they come with him?

[taijiya]

It's... hard to explain. He's a half-demon, the baboon suit is something he commonly uses as a disguise. The wasps, he can create and control at will. They act as spies and they're deadly poisonous.

[strategic_guile]

I'll definitely be on the lookout for huge wasps... but... that is... not the most incognito of disguises unless you have a lot of baboons running around?

[taijiya]

The point isn't to avoid being noticed, it's to cover his true identity. The outfit doesn't look all that baboon-like, to tell the truth.

[strategic_guile]

Huh. Well, I guess it did it's job. Do you know what he really looks like?

[taijiya]

He's a shapeshifter, but I know what form he takes most often. And all of his forms and his incarnations have a spider-shaped burn scar on their backs.

[strategic_guile]

So you have to strip him to make sure it's him?

[taijiya]

[BLAINE.]

No, um... usually his demonic aura or his wasps confirm it first...

[strategic_guile]

Oh, good. A lot less dangerous that way.

Does that mean you follow trails of wasps to find him? Because I really have no idea what a 'demonic aura' is.

[taijiya]

If you follow the wasps long enough without them knowing, they might lead you to him, but usually he's too clever for that. Otherwise it'll amount to aura and detective work... which is why at home we've had such a hard time with him.

A demonic aura is the energy that a demon gives off because of its supernatural state of being. Usually, you have to train to be able to sense it, though if it's really nasty than the untrained individual might get some traces of it--like, a bad feeling, sort of.

[strategic_guile]

Sounds like you need GPS. There are only a select few people I enjoy having to track people down and Naraku doesn't seem like one of them.

[taijiya]

GPS...?

[strategic_guile]

Global Positioning System. It's a device you can put on or in something that lets you track and find it anywhere in the world. It can even give you directions to it.

[taijiya]

That sounds incredibly convenient.

Which is probably why we don't have anything like it.

[strategic_guile]

[Laughs] It's probably because you don't have satellites in space circling around the planet.

[taijiya]

Like, up with the stars?

[what is this outer space you speak of]

[strategic_guile]

Yeah, up with the stars.

[taijiya]

That's pretty amazing.

[strategic_guile]

I'm used to it, so my wonderment has long since faded. Seeing so many stars in the sky is more amazing to me still.
