[Kanji looks a little awkward when he comes onscreen, shifting and nervous.]

The hell with knockin' on doors. This is quicker and it ain't like those bastards don't already know. Anyway! I got dropped here and find out about this poisoning shit in the food so I figured this was something I could do for the people stuck here. Someone I talked to and I figured, they couldn't be poisoning all the stuff we can get at, so I went out lookin'. Took a while to get everything together, but if it helps people out, it's worth it.

I made curry and I'm sure that the ingredients didn't come from them. Should be enough for everybody, as long as nobody hogs. It's in 109 if anybody's hungry.

[Kanji does indeed have a large amount of curry made, and anyone near 109 can probably smell it.]

[ Nik peers curiously into the bowl. He shuts one eye, then the other. Once his inspection is over, he grabs the spoon, scoops up a big spoonful of rice and curry, and proceeds to... completely disregard Kanji's warning by shoving it all into his mouth.

His mouth goes wobbly. He swallows quickly just to get it away, only that burns his throat, too. He opens his mouth to suck in huge breaths of cool air. ]

Owwwwww. Water water water-- please?

[Kanji kind of saw that coming and is already ready with a glass...of milk. He doesn't trust the water anywhere right now. He winces and holds it out.]

Sorry it ain't water but it's cold, at least?

[ Oh, milk! That's even better. Nik hurriedly sets the bowl down on the floor before grabbing for the glass with both hands, spilling some of it, gulping the rest down all in one go. He lowers the now-empty glass with a satisfied sigh. ]

It was hot! [ Said with a reproachful look. GOSH, KANJI, YOU SHOULD HAVE WARNED HIM. Then he cheers up. ] But it was very good!

[ He puts the glass down on the floor now and sits down to inspect the curry again. He gives it a suspicious poke with his spoon. Nik vs Curry, ROUND 2 ]

[Nik gets a little disappointed look.]

And I said so. You just didn't listen.

[And he'll just be watching very closely to make sure Nik doesn't burn himself again.]

[ HAVE A SCOWL IN RETURN. Yeah yeah yeah sure fine....

But Nik is a lot more careful about the next bite. In fact, he makes a big show of blowing on it before he actually puts it in his mouth. ]

This is very good. I like this! You are very good at cooking. [ Nik nods. Kanji gets his official seal of approval. ]

[ NIK IS VERY EXCITED NOW. Unfortunately he's also still trying to eat his curry and so he has to stifle that excitement for a second as he chews and swallows. ALL RIGHT, NOW HE'S DONE. ]

Can you bake cookies?

I haven't done it a lot, but yeah, I've done cookies once or twice.

[And he goes a little thoughtful, figuring that the next question will be to bake some. Been a while and he's trying to remember how he did it last time.]

Can you do cookies again? I've never ever had freshly baked cookies. I want to try! I can help too! I can look for a recipe and everything....

Probably! I'd have to get ingredients and everything but once all this poisoning shit is over that shouldn't be a problem.

Oh, oh, yeah.... [ Yeeeaaah, Nik didn't want to be reminded of that poisoning thing. Or the aftermath. He abruptly shuts up and finishes the rest of his curry in quiet.

But when he holds up the empty bowl to give back to Kanji, he tries a smile again. ]

I can help get ingredients too. Can I help? I want to help.

That'd be good. Getting enough for the curry cost a lot.

[Kanji takes the bowl and starts washing it.]

But what kind of cookies are you wanting?

Lots! But I do know how to make chocolate chip.

Oh! Oh! Then let's make chocolate chip! I'll get everything and then we can bake them and then we can share them and I'll buy milk too! [ He's gonna have to cut down on his juicebox budget but, oh well, worth it. ]
