voice ;

[ the captured voice is brisk and to the point. ]

Anyone here know anything about sewing? I have a—suit. It needs altering. It's got a bunch of metal parts too. Don't know if that'll affect anything. [ and a lot of uncovered parts. hence the need for altering. ] We can negotiate a price.

[ a little pause where she seems to debate leaving it there. it's a long shot, but... ]

Is there a record kept of transports? Or a way of knowing who has ever been here?

[ another pause. ]

Thanks.

Okay. [She makes a note of that beside the sketch, before adding some minor embellshments to the body suit because all black is boring.] I don't have a huge amount of spare body armour, but I can probably work up something that'll at least cover your torso and thighs, and hopefully as it develops it can strengthen what's already there. [Since that's what happened with hers.]

If you want more metal armour I can talk to a friend about getting something made.

That makes my life easier. [She takes another few moments to look over the costume and the couple of sketches she's drawn, doing some mental calculations before setting everything down to curl her hands around the mug of cocoa, enjoying the warmth.] I should be able to get it done in about ten days, missions or bombings or other distractions aside.

[a beat, then:] I never got your name.

Nice to meet you.

[She's assuming it's a codename, and considering she spent the first few months expecting people to call her "Batgirl", she isn't going to press for anything more than that.]

It's better when you can get really good chocolate. I got the recipe from my ex's butler.

[Always a weird sentence, in part because no one even has butlers anymore except Bruce and his kids, but also because Alfred always felt more like family than a servant.]
