As an unrelated point, I'm interested in this future world I've been taken to. I'd like to see what sort of magic has been developed by this era. Is there a proper library or other repository of magical knowledge anywhere in the city?

I would assume that you have been assigned to the temporary housing?

Though I am currently in the process of constructions with my own abode. Additional housing separate to the housing building has occurred to me as a potential project after the completion of my current project, it would be difficult to match the apartments the initiative have set up in terms of facilities however.

Hardened shelters for additional safe zones in the event of an attack also compete for that spot.

This world has not seen any development or use of magic what so ever apart from what has been brought by those transported here. There is however a library none too far from the housing building however.

I am curious, what manner of magic do you specialize in?

My specialty is elemental magic. I know a large number of custom-designed spells using different combinations of the seven elements, and own a Philosopher's Stone.

If there really has been no magic research at all for all these centuries, I'm going to be very disappointed.

Indeed, quite a useful specialization I would wager. Seven elements you say? I am curious as to what those elements are defined as for your world.

Unfortunately so, it appears that the magic was not a possibility for the people of this world, it simply didn't exist for them but in stories.

On my own world it was quite prominent however.

Of course, ask twenty magicians and you'll get twenty different theoretical groundings of magic. My elements, at least, are Earth, Fire, Water, Wood, Metal, Sun and Moon.

That is quite understandable, it is a similar case in my own world. Although some worlds appear to have more uniform workings of magic.

My more worthwhile spells incorporate multiple elements of magic simultaneously. The incantations are twice as difficult, and it takes a great deal of subtlety and preparation to keep the elements from interfering with each other, but the result is a much more versatile kind of magic.

It's not impossible, with a combination of Earth and Metal magic.

I wouldn't consider Wind a proper element. It's more of a creative application of the Wood element than anything else.

Though it might be similar. Though I don't know the precise rules on that, that's not my class.

Either way, I don't use other people's spells if I can avoid it. Not unmodified, at least. An apprentice cheats, a master researches.
