[voice | Robin]
[ The silence in the background is full and steady, which makes the fast, uneven breathing behind the tablet a little more out of place than it might have been. ]
My friend, he- Jericho. [ a huffed breath out. ]
They- it wasn’t even an accident. He didn’t have a pulse when I... when I got here. [ not a certainty, the accident part. but a guess. a good guess his head's rushing to already, but he's too upset, too angry to think it through right now. ]
I don’t know how long it’s been but you- you could tell that with the right equipment. With the fractures and the head trauma that’s- that’s a lot of- [ work to do is what he doesn’t say.
no he won’t say that. ]
Whatever it takes, I’ll- whatever the white coats use to bring people back, we’ve gotta use that. There has to be a way, there just...
There has to be.

There has to be.
action
Or course he's alright.
He rests his hand on the body's covered shoulder, a gentle halfway pat that still feels days too late. Other than covering the face up with the cape and checking the injuries he hasn't done much but examine the scene. ]
I didn't want to move him yet.
action
The rubble may be unstable.
action
But not cutting right to the chase isn't what Batman would do. He rubs his clammy hands together through the gloves and then lifts the edge of the cape covering Jericho's side. It's just a body. Another maybe crime he has to solve. ]
I wanted you to look at something. [ The knife wound, still visible and obvious in spite of the damage from the fallen building. ]
action
She's seen plenty of dead children. She's seen snuff films from start to end, over and over again during her training. She's supposed to be prepared for anything.
It doesn't feel good to look at him. Knowing who he is.
She moves closer to the body to examine the wound. ]
The assailant used a lot of power in one stab. Looks like he bled out here. [ Although the rain is already washing away the scene of the crime. She only has his clothes to go on. ] When did you find him?
action
I knew something was wrong. There's no way he would have been caught in this if something hadn't happened to him first. There was a reason he couldn't get away.
[ He huffs out an angry breath, shaking a few rain droplets off his hair. ]
And now there's somebody saying they were with him the whole time? And they never said anything, not to his friends, or... or to anybody? Nothing's adding up like it should.
action
However, sympathy is evoked within a small portion of her heart. ]
Who? [ If that person was with Jericho, could they have been the one to stab him or see it happen? ]
action
[ He's not really doing the best job ever, with that. He's starting to pace a little restlessly, eyes on the tablet again reflexively. ]
What better way to get rid of somebody than to stage it during a disaster like this one? The bombs could have caught anybody by surprise.
action
You don't want to wait any longer to get answers from them.
action
How do I do that?
action
How long have you been his partner?
action
[ No specifics. He tilts his chin up, trying to tighten up his expression into something more palatable. ]
Why's it make a difference? I'm not new at this.
action
Do you have their name, at least?
action
Ashraf's gonna wake him up. If I can't get it this way maybe he can tell us. [ It's a straw to grasp at. ]
action
action
I've seen what he can do. He healed- [ only... wait, no, it's Dick he'd healed, not Robin. Which is something he needs to stop talking about now, even if... even though there's no way Batwoman could know that. He huffs another breath out and starts over. ]
He helped me out with something else once.
action
It gets a slight pause from her. She can't shake this feeling this kid might be the Batman of the future. If he's the first Robin, then he eventually becomes Nightwing, doesn't he? She knows Nightwing is now Batman.
But the cogs don't stop turning; she's certain she knows this kid. One of the Gothamites here --
Of course.
How could she be so stupid?
She puts it aside for now, reaching a hand up to Dick's shoulder. ]
The dead don't always come back the same. Are you sure about this?
action
He's on my team. [ As if that's a qualifier, by itself. ] That means I have to watch over him.
[ Is he sure about this. That's what she'd asked him. As if it's his opinion that matters.
He has to make her get this, somehow. ]
If there's a chance don't you think he deserves it? Wouldn't you want it for your friends?
action
action
[ It's not an answer, and he knows she's perceptive enough to notice. ]
I know he'd do it for me too.
action
Alright.
