[Video/Action for roommates if they want]
[Kang is sitting at the desk in his sparsely-decorated room, carefully putting together what some may recognize as a handmade miniaturized catapult. The bowl is just big enough to easily fit the little worn minotaur doll also lying on the desk, next to an equally worn copper dragon twice its size. There are no instructions; he's building it entirely from scratch, and from memory. It's highly detailed, and the angle of the arm is adjustable.
He pauses after making a small adjustment to one of the pieces of wood with his dagger.]
I know these are considered to be outdated weapons by most here. They remind me of home, though. I made one a little bigger than this for my children last spring. In hindsight, it probably wasn't the best of ideas; they took to knocking things off of shelves from a distance. My mate was not very pleased with me.
[He smiles wryly.]
I'm sure we've all been thinking of home lately.
[The dagger, held in his right hand by only three of his fingers, is set down. It has a wicked wavy blade on it, clearly meant for battle rather than whittling.]
This isn't going to be some sort of speech about whether we should or shouldn't help the Initiative. There's been more than enough of that already.
It's simple curiosity about other people's homes. Do you live in the mountains, the forests, a city? What do you do for a living? Who do you have waiting for you?
[He shrugs.]
It wouldn't be fair to ask without talking about my own. Many of you are aware that I am the Lord-Governor of my kind's nation, Teyr. There are mountains to the west and south, and marshes to the east. Most of it is savannah, with the city proper near the middle. It was originally an old dwarven kingdom, abandoned long ago. We've nearly finished rebuilding it, and we have begun building a road from one of our smaller towns to the port city of Kalaman in the west.
[A pause, and he picks up the dagger again, nodding at the sword leaning against the wall.]
I would also like to remind everyone that I do offer training with blades, particularly swords, and hand-to-hand.
[And, private to Crucible:]
I would like to speak with you, in person.

[He says it quietly, not ashamed to admit it.]
I had hoped that Teyr would thrive. Tell me, what has it become?

A smile taking to his expression as the topic turned to Teyr.]
Teyr has held its own and grown strong in the four decades since its founding. No small task in its own right as you no doubt have found in the years thus far.
There has been mistrust and reluctance from other nations for many years, however with the instrumental actions of your people at the battle of Sanction in a war yet to come has opened many doors for your people. Including our own talks of alliance leading the way.
no subject
No, no small task. I'm not surprised that we're still mistrusted, especially with the Dark Knights claiming us as allies.
[A pause:]
You spoke once of this battle, and the Knights.
no subject
No doubt that was one of the very reasons they did so.
[Crucible inclines his head slightly before taking a sip of his drink.]
I did indeed, it is a matter of your future, albeit many years off for your current time, should you wish however I can go into greater detail as to the circumstances surrounding the battle in question.
[He gives a moment of pause at that point, giving Kang the chance to consider whether or not he wished greater insight into the event in question.]

[He inclines his head in a gesture to continue.]

The war in question, the War of Souls as it has come to be known was yet another attempt, a scheme set in motion by the Dark Queen when she stole Krynn away at the end of the Chaos War, hiding her presence from the world at large until the time was right.
In time she gathered a new army, with the Dark Knights at their head and lead by a young woman by the name of Mina cut a swath across Ansalon in the name of the 'One God'.
The final battle and culmination of Takhisis's plan was at Sanction, my City. The forces of Solamnics, Elves and Metallics I fear would not have broken through in time to stop her were it not for the arrival of the Draconian army, led by yourself and one General Slith.
[A wry hint entered his tone and expression as he went on.]
The Dark Knights were unprepared for you, likely thinking that you had come to aid them. They were soon proven how wrong they were, with your assistance the tide was turned and the battle won.
At battle's end the gods returned to the world and with their return, Takhisis's fate was sealed, made mortal and slain with a broken Dragonlance.

'Stole Krynn away'? Is that why the sky is so different, because it was moved?
no subject
It is also the reason that the dragon overlords were able to find their way to Krynn. I am sure they have made something of a name for themselves already in your own time.
[Something that he was far from pleased with, though a smile touches his expression once more.]
It is only since the end of the war and the return of the gods that the skies of Krynn have returned to their proper state.

[He wonders if Sister Marsel is still alive by that point in time.]

[Paladine's loss had been something that had weighed heavily on all metallics some more so than others even if he had not truly died.]

It's getting late; I should go. Thank you for being honest with me, Crucible.
no subject
I shall not keep you. I thank you for the opportunity to do so, Kang.
Farewell for now, Governor.

[He stands up, leaving enough marques to cover his drink and give the server a tip, and leaves the cafe.]
