6th Mistake; a delicious mistake

[Mahdi addresses the screen dressed in a red apron with his name embroidered on one side: a perhaps-obviously handmade gift from a friend. The apron and his face and bare arms are smudged with flour and a few streaks of chocolate.]

Um, does anyone want cookies? I made cookies.

[Around this time you may notice that pretty much every inch of the kitchen counter is covered with foil-wrapped paper plates.]

I made a few dozen.

And a pie. Maybe two pies.

Baking is how I vent stress sometimes, I guess, um...

I guarantee these cookies will make everyone feel a bit better! So let me know if you'd like a plate, I can drop it off with you. I'll probably be leaving some at the clinic too.

[Mahdi's been getting a lot of responses for the cookies, so he happily answers the door, still dressed in his apron.

The young woman's appearance is unexpected, but he doesn't appear fearful.]

...Painwheel?

U-Um, yeah, it's me.

[and so begins her nervous fidgeting. this would be much easier if she didn't have a metal wheel attached to her back. or glowing red eyes, or nails driven into her shoulders and thighs.]

[Mahdi's gaze passes over Painwheel's appearance and he frowns a little. Oh. Her name makes sense now. But she seems to be getting along okay, so he simply smiles and guides her inside.]

Please come in! It's nice to meet you, Painwheel.

[It was fine to go in since he had invited her. Right? All she had to do was keep herself from knocking over anything and she'd be just fine.

[Mahdi wonders how she gets by, let alone eats cookies, like this, but places that thought in the category of none of his business. There are as many ways to live as there are people in the world, right? He carefully leads Painwheel to the kitchen.]

Did you want a whole plate to take home? I can get you a bag...!

Sure! I was at it all night and I have way more than I know what to do with.

Awesome! [Mahdi finds the ones marked for double chocolate chip, and hands over the foil-wrapped plate!] Here you go!

Do you, uh, always cook like this?

Not usually in this kind of volume, but yeah, I bake something at least once a week. I find it really helps with my stress, and who doesn't like some nice baked goods?
