[ There's a scruffy, friendly-lookin dude front and center here, sort of recognizable as the slightly older, longer-haired version that used to go around being stuffy and formal. This sheepish smile is pretty uncharacteristic of him from back then, though. ]

Hello! I'm Ashraf. I was here a while ago, co-director of the transport-run clinic? [ He offers a wave. ] So hello again to anyone that knew me. I'm sorry in advance if I don't remember you very well, it's been about fifty years on my end! [ says the guy who doesn't look a day over 20 ]

So, anyway— I figured this could be a long shot, but... does anyone have a way with clothing?

[ Here's where the sheepish smile makes a triumphant return. He pulls up a pair of beautifully embroidered robes, obviously expensive, but currently full of violent-looking rips, tears, and a bullet hole or two. There's also some bloodstains left over from attempts to wash them out. ]

I tried, I really did. At this point, I think it's going to take magic to set these straight. Or a whole new set, maybe. So, um... any takers? I could pay!

It's not as simple as that. I would if I could, but he's a friend from home - only here he's been taken from a very long time into my future. He's still there if I go back, but not the way he is now. And...here he needs someone a lot more than he does back there.

Oh. [ :( ] Sorry. I guess if there was an easy way to handle it, you'd have considered it by now.

I've thought about it a lot, but in the end I won't have to make a choice unless this really works, right? And a lot of things could change until then.

If it does work... [ he smiles ] It'll be a great chance for sightseeing.

We get to do quite a bit of that in any case! I do like getting to see so many places.

That's true, but it's all within the same world. Imagine if we could visit other worlds -- planets, even!

That really would be something, wouldn't it? But I think most people would simply choose to go right home if they could.

I wouldn't. Anything I left at home can wait a little longer, and I'd like the chance to see new things.

I'm glad for you, then. If there's nothing you need to worry about back home than this definitely could make an amazing adventure.

Well, there's a demon to worry about back home — but I definitely don't mind making him wait.

A demon?!

Well, as long as he won't cause any trouble while waiting!

Time at home stops while you're here. That's what I'm counting on.

I know everyone says so. It's just hard to feel sure about it when so much might depend on whether it's true or not.

I seem to remember it being true. I mean, I can't be sure — but I don't remember anyone telling me I'd missed anything...

Well, I guess all we can do from here is hope!

And optimistically, at that. It seems like a pretty safe bet, at this point.

I just can't stop myself from worrying.

I know. [ a gentle smile! ] But since there's not much we can do about it now... maybe I could help take your mind off of it, instead?

[She gives him a soft smile in return.] I don't think a distraction is something I'd say no to right now.

Good! I could use some company, personally.

How do you feel about drinking?

I have to say that I enjoy it twice as much in company!
