Nutty times around here, huh? It's nice to see things happening, even if it's stuff like "spaceship crashing into building you call home, inevitable relocation into a room with three other people." There are worse things.

And now a trip home. Or a try for it. What good news for everyone who doesn't want to be here, maybe - if it works they could as well just install a revolving door and kick the people who won't have with fighting in a surprise war right back home. It could make life pretty difficult for the Initiative if it works out, if nobody'll stick around from the goodness of their hearts, or whatever.

It's the first time I've seen a place manage that though. So that's something.

Anyhow, welcome in to all you new people, I hope the Hold has been kind so far. If you're homesick cheer up, it could be so much more terrible around these parts. The group missions aren't so bad. You got armed and you got money and maybe you won't even be here a long time. The future looks bright, right?

It's a really big boomerang, basically. Called Hiraikotsu.

What's a boomerang?

Er. Hold on.

[A few moments of radio silence, after which the feed reveals, lying on the ground, a bone-pale boomerang at least five to six feet in length, with dark brown leather wrapped at each end and tassels hanging from it to be used as handholds.]

It's, well, that. You swing it and release with the peaked end outward, and it spins towards the target and then returns.

How do they make it come back?

It's because of the way it's shaped.

... Cool. Who taught you that?

My father did, at first. [If Rin hears a note of melancholy in Sango's voice at that, she won't have imagined it.]But later on it was more of an experimental thing... giant boomerangs aren't really a standard issue weapon, you know?

[She hears it, but this girl seems self-assured and together, and she's a stranger besides, so Rin will choose not to pry.]

I've definitely never seen one used... who came up with the idea? Is it hard to use?

It was my idea at first, a child's whim, but my father made it happen. And... well, it's not hard if you're used to it, but there's a lot of conditioning to do beforehand.

Well... being stubborn isn't hurting anybody, I think. And a weapon like that is pretty neat. So, I think it did good things for you at least, so if you're not wicked I guess it is a compliment to you.
