[ She was bored. So very bored. She wasn't training, because that's what they wanted from her, and the last thing Merida wanted to do was satisfy the people who wanted her to fight for them. She wouldn't do it. She wouldn't! And that was the end of it.

However, this didn't leave her with much to do. She wandered the city, even explored a bit of the Outlands, but she didn't go far. She was daring, but she wasn't stupid. She knew this world was dangerous, and she didn't want to lose her head without a good reason.

So she finally takes the painstaking time to learn to use the strange device she had been given upon her arrival. It took her plenty of attempts to get it working properly, and even when she does, there are several segments of very brief footage of the redheaded princess growling at her tablet in frustration. ]

Oi, is it working now? About time. [ She clears her throat. ] I want someone to tell me more about the land outside this city. [ It was much too crowded, too cluttered here. She wanted a freer space. ] A good place to explore, t'actually, you know, move around - that's what I'm lookin' for. How do you even stand it in this city?

[ She taps her chin. ] An' while you're at it, tell me what you do around here t'keep busy. I'm goin' out of m'mind.

If you do venture out, do so armed and with a group of reliable companions. I have not been far myself, but I understand it is far from safe outside the boundaries of the city. [Not that it's great in the city, but you know.]

"Near as I can tell the land outside the city is dangerous. Been lookin to get the gear together to check more personal like but unless you're pretty good with a pulse rifle I reckon it'd be best to get a group to check that out."

There is a good bit of forest I find to be particularly expansive; I find all of my herbs for my potions there.

As for myself, I occupy a great majority of my time by making said potions and working. I have a habit of drawing and painting as well, though training can be said to have slowed to a snail's pace, unfortunately. The forest can be dangerous at times, but I see no reason to let that stop any one of us. We should all be adequately equipped to survive, by the Initiative's hands or our own.

[ 'Group of companions' didn't make her particularly enthusiastic. She hardly wanted to rely on someone else to keep her safe. ]

An' what if you're not really a companions-type of person?

[ She has no idea what a pulse rifle isn't is. Nor was she a team player. ] Those're my only options? Are you bein' serious?

"Only smart options probably. Not sayin doin the smart thing is always the right thing."

He shrugs a bit.

[ Forest is a good start. Merida knew forests. She wasn't one for drawing and painting, but maybe she would keep them in mind in the event that she got bored to insanity. ]

Wait - you brew potions? Are you a witch? [ SHE HAS SOME OPINIONS ON WITCHES. ]

Well, I'm not exactly achin' to get killed, am I? What's out there that's so dangerous, anyway?

[ Oh, it's that girl with the bow. Sho spends a moment making faces to himself before turning on the feed. ]

There's not much out there, just a lot of ruins and mutated plants. A few places might be okay, but it's pretty bleak if you're thinking of trying to live out there.

I'm looking for adventure too. If you return early enough from venturing out there you might not get sick, and there's this interesting place with a cabin and a lake, but I'm afraid the others are right.

It is pretty miserable everywhere here. From what I can tell.

As for me, I keep busy with reading and drawing. It passes the time well enough, anyway.

Huh...I haven't gone too far out of the city, but there's a simulation machine around here. I use it to play sports. [She frowns. Has it been ruined too, she wonders.] Or there was, anyway.

I could take you outside and you could see for yourself?

There couldn't possibly really be ants the size of bears, could there? ]

Can't be any bleaker than this city, can it? Besides, ruins sound far more excitin' than these tall gangly buildings.

[ Well, at least she's not the only person around here aching for a little adventure. ]

How long is too long, then? [ ... ] An' sick from what, exactly?

[ It takes her a moment to properly figure out the text function, but - success! ]

That's it? Don't you ever feel like going out?

[ She makes a face. So many terms she doesn't know what to with in this place. ]

...Simulation machine? What does that mean?

In this miserable weather?

Though, that isn't entirely fair. I'm not always cooped up indoors. My hobbies might not be the most exciting, but I can take them with me if I need a change of scenery.

No animals save for strange birds, barely any insects and I have yet to see anything bigger than a mutated rabbit.

There's plenty to do outside, if you like rocks, dirt and a whole lot of ugly violations of nature wandering around in lousy weather.

[He's just bitter that his little adventure outside ended as fruitlessly as it ever could have.]

More than two days is what's really dangerous.

It's called radiation poisoning. It'll make you nauseous in the earlier stages, but it could get much worse.
