( Audio picks up the sound of industrial construction, either things familiar in woodshop, car garages, or anywhere of a similar sort. When the feed goes live, Collette is framed to one side, looking forward and away from the camera.  She's clearly resting on her arms, and given the angle of the ground on the screen, she's probably lying on her stomach in order to do this.  She glances over her shoulder, eyes going to something behind the tablet being used for recording, then smiles as her eyes drop down to the tablet itself.  For all intents and purposes, the camera is positioned to make the viewing audience seem like they're side by side with Collette, wherever it is she is, keeping a low profile in this industrialized looking area.  Concrete floor that she's resting on, packing boxes ahead of her, bundles of cables and chains glimpsed somewhere past her head. )

Guys!  ( She keeps her voice low, not a whisper (they carry further, and can't be heard about the ambient noise), but low to avoid excessive attention. )  Anyone else catch where they dragged the ship off to with that giant crane after the crash? I wondered about that. But I've got news!

( She makes a waving motion at the camera, and it shifts, jarringly, to leave Collette off screen and show something covered in plastic and wiring and cables, a few Initiative workers using welding guns, others wheeling parts away or calling out shouts of questions over the sounds of construction. )

They say the spaceship's salvageable!

I mean, where else are you going?

I don't know. It sounds dangerous, so I think I'd rather stay grounded.

Ground crew is always super important, so that'd be great, too! Though you have no idea what you might be missing -- flight can be the most amazing thing in the world! Still, if you want to keep your feet on the ground...

I definitely want to. Are any of you even trained for this? If the craft blows up in the earth's atmosphere I want to be far away from it.

Oh yeah, we've got more than a crew's worth of people trained to deal with space! Which means even more can learn. Rule of thumb, you know? It's exciting!

There are people here who're actually trained for space travel?

Like what, people from N*S* or something?

People from way further in space-traveling universes. I don't know what all their programs are called, but it's not what you just said! Not all of them are human, either.

Not human... huh. Well, even where I'm from there seem to be stuff like that so I'm not surprised but... are you going with them?

I want to! And I will, if not at first, then definitely when I can. I mean, I was up there once already, I'd love to go back!

-- wait, then when it crashed--?

-- Oh! Oh, Onyx got most of us out. Nate and Gamora kept the damage to a minimum.

So you're not hurt?

Everyone came out okay! Nothing broken, no major bleeding, no lasting damage. I'm really happy about that!

I see. Well, that's good to hear.

You're Collette? [A flicker of his eyes show that he's reading your name by the post.]

( She smiles, nodding her head once. )

I am! That's me. What's your name?

( Her lips quirk a little higher to the left, knowing she can use the same method to name him, but choosing otherwise. )

How long do you think the repairs are going to take?

I'm not sure! Weeks at least. Months, maybe? With the people who know about space-ships, really know, helping out, and other bright people, maybe less. Time's one of the only things sometimes on our side around here.

( she says, while winking. )

I guess that's one of the realistic things about this place...

Why were you on the space ship anyway?

I helped steal it.

( Cue the shrug of her shoulders; no big deal. )

[Oh..........]

... You did?

[whatsupcroc]

Yep! When the group I was with were all over in the UE, scouting things out!

[substitutable]

... I see. So, aside from the space ship, did you find anything?

[whatsupcroc]

A smaller city, dog-sized mutant trapdoor spiders, some really rusted metal rail?
