[One of the disadvantages of not coming from a rich district means no fancy technology, and it takes some serious key smashing before the video function comes up, something this lady with uneven, brown hair is not immediately aware of as she pounds on the keys. Eventually she catches a glimpse of herself on the screen and stops. The words 'piece of Capitol crap' are muttered, and audible if you're paying attention.]

Seeing the escorts here are about as useless as they are back home isn't a big surprise, but knowing that their fashion sense is about as awful is a nice constant. [Johanna gives a big smile at that, one with a threatening, subtle anger behind it.] And hey, they give you actual weapons before starting the blood bath.

So, anyone out there in Exsilium-[She taps a fingernail against the screen twice, her amusement fading into a haughty stare.]-have an explanation for what's going on, or is this a delusion I'm going to have to remember to pass on to a shrink later? The faster you start talking, the less likely it is that I'll start collecting scalps.

[She hesitates for a moment, uncertain if she wants to broach this subject with someone she just met. Johanna is not the most trusting of people, but she can't see a reason for whoever this is to lie to her, either.

Says the one threatening to scalp people so she can get answers? I'd say yes, I'm being very patient.

Mutts? [Her first assumption is animals but... that seems unlikely since she doubts that's a topic someone who just showed up here would be curious about.] You'll have to explain what sort of mutt type you're talking about.

[There's no immediate response, just Johanna staring at the screen blankly. That's Finnick Odair. A perfect replica of the guy she remembers. The same one who died in the sewers. The others had said so, explained it enough that she had gotten the picture that he wasn't coming back.

It takes a moment for her to react, but when she does, her expression hardens, glaring at him fiercely. Whoever is responsible for this wants a reaction from her, and she's not giving them the satisfaction.]

All kinds. You talk pretty well, for a mutt.

Not exactly what he expected to occur, to be honest. He goes as blank as she does, watching her carefully. There's a tightening in his chest, fingers flexing for a moment.

He slowly begins to smile at her again, trying to play off her words, trying to not wonder why she'd think he was a mutt.

Like how he thought Glimmer was at first, too.]

[She notices his reaction, a hesitant part of her wanting to believe the closest thing she could call to a friend is real but she's not sold, not willing to take that risk. Instead, she smiles at him, a viciousness underlying the grin.

Johanna may have mixed feelings on seeing him again, but from an outsider's perspective it would be hard to tell.]

Your owners tell you to say that? All to get my guard down before you rip out my throat?

[She gives a derisive snort.]

Tell them to try harder.

Johanna. What the hell is your problem? [He's tired of dancing around this issue. He has to calm down, can't freak out, can't let his imagination run wild. His fingers seek out the length of rope balled in his pocket, and Johanna can see the way he begins to work at the knots already.

Eyes remain steady on her through the computer, however.] Nobody owns me. [A pause before a half-hearted smile.] Not anymore, at least. But you know that.

You're supposed to be dead. That clear enough for you? [Johanna's words sound harsh, angry as she watches him fiddle with the length of rope. He's convincing, she'll give him that much.]

It clicks eventually-one of the Careers from brainless' time in the Games-but the realization doesn't show on her face. If she had been a betting kind, she might've put money down on her, Katniss' 11 or not.]

Should've figured. It's like they've never been threatened before.
