These past few weeks have been a little crazy. What sucks though is that Dad is gone. This place officially sucks. I mean, it sucked before, but it really sucks now. Also, I can't seem to find Mr. Barnaby, and I haven't seen anything from him on the network? I have to check his apartment, but...I think he's gone, too...

Yeah, this place sucks times a thousand. Maybe more.

Anyway, I went on my first mission! Not of my own choosing, of course, but it was fun, and I came back with some items, too! This music player is great since the Initiative hooked it up to the network, too, so I have the tablet and this. (Okay, so maybe they suck times 999 instead.)

Also, I mentioned it before, but Kido has a gang, and I'm a member of it now! I found a hoodie for my "official uniform" and it's really comfortable. I love it. Plus Kano & she are awesome in general. I'm glad I met them and have someone I can go to for advice, although I've spoken to many awesome older people, too.

All right, my shake appeared, and it would be a shame to let it get warm from me putting down my thoughts on paper.

[ The video feed comes on, and if her surroundings look familiar to a few Transports, it is because she is currently sitting in NORA cafe, treating herself to a milkshake as she munches on a piece of candy. ]

Hi! I was wondering if anyone who knows Barnaby Brooks Jr. has seen him lately, or if they know he is for sure gone? I haven't heard from him lately, nor seen him...

Well, no, but that's still stealing! Besides, if one person per mission did it it'd only probably count as a shoplifter that nobody remembers, but there's definitely gotta be more... have you thought about how many people the Initiative's even keeping around here?

[ Yep AND a Hero's daughter. But she is all about taking care of herself and being able to take of the people she cares for right now in any way she can, so if she has to take on some Bad Guy traits to make sure her circle is comfortable in this crapper, she will. ]

Not everyone goes on a mission, and not every mission gives someone the opportunity to come back with something.

So in the light of the "greater good" that is changing history, the Initiative overlooks petty crimes like swiping what can be swiped?

[ blunt and sharp: ] Yes. Keep in mind, some of us don't do it just because "Ooh stealing without getting caught!!!" We do it to be able to help each other out, especially if someone wants to treat themselves to a novelty item and can pay for it for a lower price than what it's sold for in some Exsilium shops. The Initiative dragged us all here to this crappy place to help fight their war, they should be able to deal with us taking things while on missions for ourselves or for others.

[He flinches at her response. Actually jumps a little away from the screen. Then he frowns, looks flustered but troubled, and ultimately a little upset as he turns away a little.]

[ She sips her milkshake for a bit, coming down from...whatever kind of high that was. She isn't sure exactly where it all came from, but she sighs as she moves the milkshake away, running her fingers through her hair. ]

My dad would share the same sentiments you do if he was still in Exsilium. "Stealing is wrong, Kaede." But he was here longer than I have been, so he knows what I now have to deal with. I think he would want me to take care of myself. I think he would want anyone to take care of themselves the best they can while here. If taking something from another world helps you or me live another day or two, as oppose to the alternative, he would support it.

You don't have to take anything, Shintaro. I just don't think it is fair to pass judgement so soon on what others trapped here are doing to get through each day, especially silly things like stealing when the United Earth losers could waltz in and kill us all in the same breath.
