[With his video on, Shiki sat on a bench propped up on the sidewalk, a bit broken down and set near the outside of the city. He typed into his communicator, unaware that he had the video set on along with his text post. During the entire time he spent typing away, Shiki looked extremely fatigued and slightly dizzy, as if he were having trouble keeping his neck still.]

I feel like I'll collapse on the spot if I keep maintaining reading dusty books and training as my primary mode of entertainment. I used to have a handful of friends I'd spend time with, but it isn't the easiest for me to up and be quick to chat when every time I go to the gym, someone asks me if I want to be a 'hardened killer' with some TV program training regiment. It kind of puts me in a bad mood all day. So, I'll get to the point. Does anyone want to hang out? I don't know many places, here. I understand sight-seeing at the end of the world is dismal, but I think I could give it a shot.

[The video recieve screen flickers on, and the face above peers out.]

Are you all right? You don't look quite well.

And I understand that desire. There's a new bar that opened, and they have more than just liquor. Some interesting other drinks, and food. If you'd like to meet up, I'd be willing to. Could use more friends here.

I'm fine. Little tired from today.

[One hand came up to his face, pinching the bridge of his nose. He didn't realize the video was still on, but he played through it.]

Provided I can get tea, that sounds fine.

I think they do, both cold and hot. Not used to cold tea. Interesting difference.

And the 'hardened killer' thing isn't for everyone. I was trained for that sort of thing, and it's terribly overrated, I assure you. We really need to improve the training for those that it's just not suited for.

I'd really prefer hot tea, then. [He reached up to fix his collar, frowning inwardly. The constant rain had done plenty to soak through his clothes.]

And, on that I'd disagree. Let's find a way to keep more people from coming in. Anyway, I need to get out of the rain and change my clothes before I go anywhere.

Ah, that I agree with you on. Keeping people from being brought here who don't want to be here, or aren't suited for a war, that's something to work on.

I've sent the location of the tavern to you, so you can find it when you're ready.

I'll try, then. Usually I'd like to change into something a little more dry for comfort, but I feel like I don't want to go back to my place right now.

[He stood up, one hand in his pocket with the other holding his comm.]

I'm Shiki, by the way.

I'm Meliantha. A pleasure to meet you.

The same to you, miss. I'll try my best to get there in one piece. [He smiled sardonically, turning off his comm--just so she wouldn't see him teeter over onto the ground.

When he arrived, Shiki walked in with a towel over his shoulders and a napkin wrapped around his glasses, drying them on the way in.]

...Where to sit.

You sure look like you're about to collapse on the spot. What's the deal with the wobbling?

I'm anemic and I had just been exercising despite how stupid that sounds, actually.

[Saul switches over to video because 1) he's accommodating like that and 2) Shiki needs to see the super disapproving look on Saul's face right now.]

It doesn't just sound stupid.

[Shiki frowned suddenly, realizing Saul wore that sad fatherly expression that he always needed to see every time he made a bad decision.]

I tend to do stupid things. I don't think I have a choice in whether or not I let my short-term pain get in the way of things down the road, though.

[oh shiki honey no don't use that word saul is just judging the hell out of you right now okay nothing more CALM DOWN...

The look remains.]

Yeah? Things like what?

Well... [Getting into a confrontation with a vampire that killed every living thing in a hotel within an hour, running headlong at a vampire that could fire lightning bolts out of his palms at leisure. Making out with a vampire executioner.]

I used to play a lot of pranks in High School.

Yeah, well, so did I. I'm not really seeing the connection, here.

[But when Saul says pranks he actually means pranks, not faulty cover for something bizarre.]

Dangerous, stupid pranks. I don't think we need to go into detail, sir.

[Rather, it was a deflection. Shiki wouldn't have used the word 'prank' to describe the method of his madness.]

[Ooh, sir?

Shiki.

Stop trying to win him over.]

I've got enough stupidity to deal with, kid. You gonna be okay?

I'll be fine. A lot of my problems are ones I have very little control over, so you're sort of at the tail end of the list of people telling me to take my speed down a bit.

[He breathed in slowly, smiling at the end.]

I found out there's a treatment to cure me of my anemia and I wanted to be ready for it.

...be ready for what? The world's largest iron pill?

[Seriously he has no idea wtf else Shiki could be talking about. WHY IS EVERYTHING HERE SO WEIRD?]

Ugh, well--it's not like any doctors could easily explain it. It's nothing that myself and one other person could really explain and I'm pretty sure that I don't even want to be an expert in it.

It's a secondary health condition that makes my anemia act up even more. Technically, it could kill me at any time.

[Okay, man. You lost him. He squints at the screen, unsure of whether to be alarmed or laugh. This is a joke, right?]

Did you swallow a bomb, or...?

You've never heard of aneurysms? Why did you go straight to time-bomb?

They can't fix that? The Initiative, I mean.

It's a really complex thing. It's not really as physical as I make it out to be, but it can cause me physical harm if I'm not careful with it.

Uh, yeah, I'd imagine so. It's not in your brain, is it?

It's definitely in my brain. Aside from my anemia, I'm actually very healthy.

[nuh uh]

Oh. Aside from that and the aneurysm. Okay.

Look, I was using the aneurysm as a comparison.

Whatever. [He peers a little more closely at the screen, scrutinizing Shiki's image.]

You look a little less like you're about to drop dead, at least.

To be frank, looking unhealthy is the best thing for me.

[He touched his temple, frowning inwards.] If anything, the worst case scenario is me being dead, rather than just in pain.

[Flatly:] I'd say that's the worst case scenario for all of us.

You can take me sight-seeing to the places you do know.

[He narrowed his eyes, uneasily.]

I guess I could. Though, I only know of a handful of places and they're only really suitable for utilities.

It'd have to be something I haven't seen.

They're place I probably haven't seen before.

It'll be good investigation ♥

Ugh, fine. I'd just cut down on the enthusiasm a few dozen times, though.

There's nothing wrong with an extra oompf in what you do~

[One hand rose, touching his left temple. A flash of pain in his head.]

Look, if you want to hang out, that's alright--but, you're a little too giddy. Can't you cut back on it?
