[Woe and betide Samus Aran, for her shower would forsake her this morning. It was a nice routine, not that she really liked the idea of settling into one much; wake up, stretch, shower, shove some breakfast in her mouth, go to the Police Station and do her Police Lady thing. This morning however would not be par the course; her nice, hot shower turned into an unforgiving sheet of frigid ice water pelting her back. Not to mention the utter darkness that fell over everything. The distinct hum of electricity stopped. The distinct, muffled and frustrated groans of a few other unfortunate apartment residents she could pick out through the walls. They could probably hear hers too.

Mere inconvenience? Or attack as well-founded paranoid let her mind secondarily settle into. She ambled out of the shower, slipping and sliding on the wet tile floor just to hastily throw a towel around herself. It's surprisingly dark inside the building despite the time of day, and her eyes haven't had time to adjust yet.

After a bit of fumbling around, eventually she manages to locate her tablet. Given the circumstances, she'll be sticking with audio.]

Requesting a status report from all awake and coherent Transports.

[If she could figure out if this outage was limited to just the apartment building or not, that would be a good first step.]

[Early mornings have been Shepard's bread and butter for a while now; no sense messing with something that isn't broken, time travel kidnapping or no. She's heading down toward the hold's training facilities for an early morning run when everything goes dark. The lift shudders to a stop. Jamming the control panel buttons a few times doesn't do anything, so she flips on her omni-tool and Samus' broadcast is right there at the top of the network.]

Well I can personally confirm the power to at least one of the elevators is out.

I just came from the police station and nothing seems to be affected in that area. [There's a pause as she takes a moment to glance around as she cruises down the street.] From what I can see, it's an isolated incident: nothing around the square looks out, and all the streetlamps are still working. ... The ones that work, anyway.

[There's a bit of a frustrated grunt as everyone's helpful (or not so helpful) replies have indicated this is just a power outage in the apartment.]

You might want to borrow a couch back at the precinct until it's fixed.

Third floor, no power. Checked the hallways, as well. I have a couple lightsticks I can let people use to get out via the stairs.

I can see in the dark and I'll be keeping the floor safe in case someone gets the idea of some unauthorized requisition of anything at all.

[Being a team player and trusting other people to be competent at their jobs is oftentimes still a difficult concept for Samus, even if for the greater good. This woman sounds like she's confident and assertive enough, however. Mention of the stair wells does prompt Samus to think about it a little further.]

If you have any other light sources to temporarily spare, affixing them in the stair wells would be wise. You can't be on every floor at the same time.

Forgetting where he is, Ralph panics and grabs at himself, making sure he's still in one piece. Power outages are always scary, and though it'd been a long time since he'd lost any friends as a result of them, the risk was ever present. In an attempt to respond he accidentally starts the video recorder, his face barely visible in the darkness.]

Wh-what?! I just woke up, the power's out?! Was anyone NOT plugged into a surge protector?!
