01 ☆ text - of potions and sheep

Greetings,

I have seen the poisoned earth and the strange trees beyond this city's borders; I did not recognise half of the roots scavanged from there abouts. And no doubt the quality of produce from seeds sewn out there would surely be questionable at best. As such, I would know what means Exsilium has for the growth of plants.

Though I imagine that a poison brew would simple enough to make from what currently exists, there must be some means of harvest provided for use by apothecary?

[ About ten minutes later, the post is updated with a second (unrelated?) query: ]

And if anyone knows the best means of cooking lamb, I would be most grateful for assistance.

[This is what's been bothering her, too. Everything her father taught her, even the additional information she picked up from training for and experiences during the Games... it's all mostly useless. Sure, there are some familiar plants out there, but a good number of them that still manage to exist on that land are something else entirely. So, where do they get some of the stuff they sell?

But, for now, it's the second part she's going to focus on. Because let's face it, she wouldn't mind a bowl of some of that lamb stew.]

You have sheep?

[personal profile] oncearanger 2013-04-20 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It's possible with some seeds, some clean soil, and a proper plant lamp. I actually knew someone working on a greenhouse a while back.

[personal profile] oncearanger 2013-04-20 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Those lamps emulate the sun's rays as closely as possible, to stimulate growth.

And greenhouse is just a name---they're more like clear glass houses, usually. They're called greenhouses because they hold all those green plants.
oncearanger: (lost in it)

[personal profile] oncearanger 2013-04-20 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds pretty good. If we can get your plants there, maybe we'll be all right.

Pray tell, wherever did you find sheep?
draconic_historian: (Oh joyous day!)

So you have enough sheep to breed more? This is most excellent news. The beasts in the wastes make for poor meals.

I think I had some recipes in my notes before arriving here, but unfortunately there is no way of reaching them now. Otherwise I would be happy to make a trade.
draconic_historian: (What's that?)

[personal profile] draconic_historian 2013-04-20 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you implying that you intend to grow sheep from seeds?
draconic_historian: (Oh COME ON)

More silly than Wagner

[personal profile] draconic_historian 2013-04-20 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Were YOU grown from a seed?
draconic_historian: (Your words lack credibility)

[personal profile] draconic_historian 2013-04-20 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Presumably then one would make sheep in a similar manner to how one makes more humans.

But I've never studied animal husbandry.

Until now, it did not occur to me that there was any sort of alternative.
draconic_historian: (What the!?)

[personal profile] draconic_historian 2013-04-21 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
That is very strange, but also very useful. I should like to see this sheep-tree when it's done growing.

I am the dragon Ricasthix.

Yes, the kind that flies around and breathes fire. No, I don't demand tribute or generally cause trouble without provocation. I try to be a polite neighbor.

[That sounds reasonable to him. Enough angry humans can be a legit problem for a lone dragon.]

I had no intention of behaving otherwise.

Do you know how to build a fire?
heirwithouthope: (We rode the rivers of the eastern trail)

[personal profile] heirwithouthope 2013-04-21 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
There are stoves inside the apartments, but if you wish to roast the entire beast at once, it can only be done outdoors.

If the rain concerns you, you could dig a fire pit.
heirwithouthope: (Where there's a door...)

[personal profile] heirwithouthope 2013-04-23 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
I would not have thought so.

If you spent most of your time out in the open, then that is the most inevitable outcome.

It is fact more than softness of heart.

But I am thankful for the invitation, all the same.

I'd roast it.

The lamb, I mean.

Hey, a fire pit could be cool. We used to have those back home.

There might be someplace in the badlands, but that means... going to the badlands.

Sorry, most of that shot right over my head. Are you...just looking for a way to grow plants?
totallytrustworthy: (Oh)

Ah. Afraid I'm not much of a botanist, but the woods have a few grizzly looking trees. Some weeds, also, but your best bet for fetching something substantial is on a mission.

Or hiring someone to run one for you.
