I need someone to give me a rundown of the current political situation in this place.

Preferably someone who's been here for more than a few months, but any info beyond "it sucks" would be appreciated. I'm looking for names, dates, events, etc. Anything pertinent.

Please & thank you.

By "this place," are you referring to Exsilium, or the world?

Yeah, what Barnaby asked, 'cause it's kind of not the same thing, mister! Are you big on Exislium, or big on th big picture?

There is no local government.
whatsupcroc: (☇ doubt: oh yeah like I buy that)

Kind of yes and no. I mean, the Initiatve is pretty small, yeah? Exsilium is decently large. Half a million people! Barely a percentage is part of the Initiative. Barely a percentage of that is us.

So, politically speaking, a small percentage has a real strong feeling of doing anything. Then there's the United Earth, where we got this cabinet member months back? Kidnapped him while the cabinet was here examining their handiwork after the massive blanket bombings. The UE, filled with people controlled by drugs and run by an AI? I dunno, talk about weird politics. And I never even had Government yet back home!

There are half a million Exiles living on this island, and a few hundred Transports. If the Exiles would like some more organized form of government, I'd imagine they would've formed one themselves. As for the Transports, it would certainly prove difficult to get a consensus on what kind of government or leader would be necessary - for one thing, I doubt any of the many members of royal or noble lineages would appreciate having to submit to a new authority.

Check the tags! They update and clean out the records on this thing when we're in and out. There are names here that totally never posted to anything, but they come and go too, so I figure it's a record made as we come in the door.

They have to stop fighting about fighting the Initiative first.

[ Yes she is. ]

The Exiles are the people of this world who have been literally exiled here, whereas Transports are those of us who have been brought in from other worlds. Exiles are largely unaware of the Initiative or where we really came from.

Most of what you've been told already is a fairly accurate rundown. The Initiative is the major power on this island. There is little other organized government here. And of course across the water we have the United Earth, which is one government that keeps itself as consistent as possible across large areas.

The transports. [ A half shrug. ] No one cares about anything anyone else has.
whatsupcroc: (☇ ask: is that all there is to it?)

Me and a few other Transports! Dick's in the Initiative's medical bay, ever since after the uh, mental exercises Charlie and 'Driel and Frosty walked him through.

Is it necessary?

[personal profile] ex_bandai157 2013-04-11 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Uninterested, for the most part. They have their own affairs to be concerned with, and so far Transports have contributed to the local economies and helped in times of crisis.

I've heard it was different at one point, but that was before my time here.
