[The feed flickers on with a wobbly view of a single eye and a thick eyebrow. It wobbles.]

Oh! Ohh!! It's on! I think!!

[The image pulls out to focus more generally on Nitoh's face. He holds his device out at arm's length as he walks up a back staircase in some nondescript building]

Hey! I'm Nitoh, Kousuke Nitoh. I'm looking for my RIVAL, Haruto Sohma, Kamen Rider Wizard. And also PHANTOMS. I'm sure he's hiding some somewhere around here. They told me there are no Phantoms here, but that's gotta be a trick or something. BECAUSE! There's no way I could be here AND he could be here without there being any PHANTOMS here!!!

[He treks up and pushes open the door up to the roof, and for a moment the video feed whites out, until it adjusts to the light and it shows him silhouetted and the scattered rooftops below him. It bounces up and down as he paces.]

Okay, stop don't say it, I know what you want to know. How do I know my rival's even here? WELL! I asked about him and they said he'd been here for a while! So Haruto! Don't try to hide from me! I'm sending my little gryphon out to find you!

[He sets the camera down, still pointing at him, as he activates his driver belt and a little self-assembling model appears in mid-air in front of him: a green somewhat robotic-looking gryphon. He pulls off the ring he is wearing and sets it inside, then looks at the camera significantly.]

SEE! I'll find you if I have to search every donut shop in the city!!

[Gryphon flies off and he waves his forefingers at it as it leaves, smiling fondly. Then he looks back.]

And then you can show me where you're keeping all the Phantoms in this city! You gotta share, you KNOW why!

[At the last, he focuses strongly on the camera, pointing accusingly at it. Then he waves, back to a winning grin.]

Later!!!

[The feed switches off]

[He screws up his lips, uncomfortable.]

I'm not a Gate. Me and Chimaera just sort of met up. I found him in a hole, whatever. He eats mana. I eat regular people food. If he doesn't have mana to eat...

[He shrugs and lifts his head, turning away and resettling himself on the rooftop.]

He eats me. That's about it. Man, lately people have just been talkin' about this all the time, it's gettin' on my nerves!

Man, I dunno, there's a lot of it! We fought a lot of Phantoms, I ate some of 'em. There was that thing with Medusa's sister and that White Wizard dude, and what else... Uhh, oh I got a cool gun just now! And a cool ring to upgrade with.

Which is great cos you have all those upgrades and that spinny timer thing and I got nothin', plus you can use my rings and I can't use yours so maybe we're a little more even now.

Oh! That's right! What room are you guys in? I won't break down the door or nothing it would just be good to know.

[There is no guile in his face whatsoever, he's totally honest and open and clearly doesn't want to do much except probably mess up Haruto's hair.]

Oh, oh! It's really cool, there's this die in the middle of the hilt part of the knife and I can spin it and then I set the ring and it stops and however many the die says will tell me how many monsters get sent out when I set off a saber strike. Like charging bulls if I'm wearing my buffa cape and all.

I didn't invent it, I just found it in an excavation, but it's pretty cool unless I roll a 1, and then it's pretty lame.

[He cuts off, processing Nitoh's kind of super-sketchy overview. Not a Gate, but a wizard. It made sense, then, that he'd have to draw his mana in from outside sources--like Phantoms. They were both in danger, then, in different ways.]

You're remarkably blase about this. If you need mana, I can probably provide.

[He crosses his arms and shakes his head.]

I was like this close to dying a couple days ago, and we tried all that business and Chimaera was like nah I don't need my meals served up on a silver platter, I'm a wild beast! Yeah? So, won't work.

[He lets his probably-getting-to-be-kind-of-familiar-already crooked smile cross his face]

Don't worry about me, Haruto, I can figure out something. Plus those guys at the thing said they'd have something for me eventually. I just ate a whole Phantom just a bit ago... I mean Hyper Beast form takes it out of me cos it's gotta manifest Chimaera in the real world, but I'm probably good for... maybe a week, if I don't run around usin' my belt all the time.

In which case, you have a very strange way of showing it.

Spinny... timer? This is the most confusing story I've ever been told.

C'mon man, give the guy a break. Haruto's the kind of dude who seems like a huge jerk until like right about when you're in a huge pinch, and then he comes out with a solution.

Sometimes it's a dumb solution, but hey, they can't all be winners. If nothing else, he helps with whatever jam you're in when you figure out how to sort it out.

Yeah that's cos you're supposed to already know it!

I dunno, it's this thing it yells DRAGOTIME and then all of a sudden there's four of you and you're all different powered-up forms, it's super cheap. Also one time you merged into one and you had a dragon head stickin out of your chest and it looked weird.

As far as Medusa's sister goes, I guess she's going off to wizard school with the White Wizard or something. She was a Gate too, but she beat down her phantom like you did.

Man this is dumb, why can't you just know all this stuff already. What if I'm screwin' something up by telling you?!

Give me one good reason why.

But nah. It doesn't work that way, or I woulda totally tried. It's got its own little internal logic, so even if I write fifty on the one it's still gonna spit out one little bird or whatever.

I got other stuff than a Saber Strike, though! Don't count me out on that!

...sounds like a mana drain. Might be nice to have anyway.

[He really doesn't want to invite him over, but...]

Aw c'mon man! I just got this sweet gun and this new form and it'll totally blow your mind. There's this big lion on the chest with its mouth open all CHOMP, it's super great.

You were not too excited about it at the time either, but it's her business not yours. She was all I made this choice to protect more people from dying like my sister or whatever. She was super cute... I mean, you know she and Medusa were twins or whatever but she was cuter I think. Maybe it's all the not-evil she's got going on.

Well that's a weight off my mind. Oh I should tell you me and Rinko have been dating. So you should prepare for that, y'know, somewhere in your mind.
