[For a while there's nothing but the loud and slightly obnoxious sound of chewing. Whoever this is doesn't have any goddamn table manners, Jesus.

But eventually a girl's voice pipes up. The voice is young, and a little gruff, but she doesn't sound livid or even particularly upset about her sudden relocation. Either she's had time to adjust or there's something else going on.]

Oi. Whoever's listening, does anyone understand this? [Crunch crunch crunch.] I got a few questions.

[She almost smiles back, but something gives her pause. She doesn't remember giving her name to this girl before she'd...well, ended up here.

The suspicious thought comes and then goes. Perhaps Kyuubey had said something about her, after all, and she got the sense from their limited interaction that Madoka was too honest to deceive anyone.]

Yeah. [She scoffs, nibbles at her pocky stick.] They want us to fight. [An amused snort.] I'm not gonna fight for a bunch of strangers, not 'til I figure out what's going on around here.

[And even then. She was not known for magnanimity.] Did you find anything else out?

( Madoka does not think to ask just what Kyouko may or may not remember, after all with everything else in mind she cannot really bring herself to wonder think that they might be some two very different points of the same timeline. )

Mm, it's sort of... worrying. ( She offers a small smile, wringing her hands without thought. ) Do you think they would be honest with us?

... Oh, no, not really. Not expect what they told us. My roommate didn't mention much else to me either.

[Kyouko rubs the bridge of her nose, hums in thought, and finally says:] Probably not. They'll just tell us what we wanna hear to get us to fight. Like Kyuubey.

[A lazy shrug.] But don't worry about it. If there's a way in, there's a way out.

I hope they're not nearly as secretive about important things as he was. ( A wary smile. ) Kyouko-chan, if I can ask... what is the last thing you remember?

Don't be surprised if they are. [It's a gruff warning, but her voice seems to soften.] Anyway, I'm around, so...just stick close, all right?

[You have her axe in other words, little pink Jesus.] And what I remember...? [Sayaka being an idiot. I was being an idiot.] I was talking to Sayaka, but she didn't listen. [She hunches her shoulders, and adds, bitterly:] That's no surprise.

Okay. Thank you, Kyouko-chan.

( And Kyouko has her smiles!! Which manages to remain despite Kyouko's words, there was a lot she needed to tell the other girl but where could she even start. ) Please don't be to hard on Sayaka-chan. She means well, she's just... she gets very, um, determined! ... When she sets her mind to something.

Yeah, yeah. [A lazy wave of her hand. It's not like she likes you or anything, Madoka!

She snorts at the mention of Sayaka.] Heh, you mean stupid. All she's gonna end up doing is getting herself hurt if she keeps it up. Maybe she'll cool off if she shows up here.

( Madoka is quiet again, carefully thinking over her words. Kyouko was right though, Sayaka could show up here too. )

She wants to do her best for everyone, but sometimes Sayaka-chan takes on more than she can handle but still keeps pushing herself harder and harder.

But I think... mm, I'm sure the both of you could be friends too.

Friends, huh. [Kyouko sounds and looks quizzical at that, but she doesn't seem to be in the mood to argue. Sayaka had chosen her path, and Kyouko had chosen another. That was all there was to it, right?

She decides to change the subject instead of dwelling on it.] I hear there's merchants around here. Wanna go see?

( It's enough to keep Madoka smiling either way, lacing her fingers together with a small hum of acknowledgement as Kyouko continues. )

Mm, sure! I saw a few on my way over here, but it'll be a good idea to figure out just what they offer here.

All right. [She makes a motion with her hand, urging Madoka to follow her.] Let's get goin'...hope they've got good stuff in this place.

[And then Kyouko spent her entire stipend on food, the end!!]
