[The video begins with Ashe sitting on the corner of her bed. The Sword of Kings, an intricate two-handed sword, is propped against the wall on the bed. Dark circles and bags have formed under Ashe's eyes, making it clearly that she has barely slept since her arrival. She grips the Dawn Shard tightly in her hand, it reminds her of home and the warm desert breeze that she misses so. Ever since her arrival she has worried what is happening back in her homeland.]

Does anyone know what happens in our homes while we are here?

[She pauses clutching the Dawn Shard to her breast.]

If I have disappeared in Ivalice, then who knows what sort of terrible fate will befall my people. I have abandoned my people when their need is most dire. There is much I need to do at home and yet I sit here awaiting instructions.

[Sighing heavily she bites down on her lip, and then reached up brushing back a few loose strands of dark blonde hair.]

I do not mind helping, as I understand one's need for freedom, but I wish they would at least put my mind at ease. I have my own worries and plights to deal with, I fear I cannot handle being a part of another resistance while my mind is clouded with thoughts of my own. It would simply be too much for me to handle.

[ that... that makes him feel worse. he emphasizes with ashe completely, and he grimaces as he looks down, tightly holding his hands together. he can feel his blunt nails dig into the flesh of his hands. ivalice has seemed far away for a while now, but with ashe being here, it's thrown right back into his face. he finds himself wondering about the empire--the empire that is his now... ]

I understand why you would be. [ he has felt the same, but he doesn't allow himself to say it. this is about ashe. ]

I am afraid that here is no different. [ he closes his eyes with a sigh, but then, looks firm again. ] The Initiative shows shades of kindness in giving us so much, and yet, to be used as toy soldiers on the field is admittedly not the wisest or the most honest choice in a war.

[She chews her lip for a moment, taking time to collect her thoughts.]My grief and anger are my own, and to have them use it to twist my desire for Dalmasca's freedom and peace is appalling. In truth it makes me question my own abilities. [Her situation has made her wonder if she's even fit to rule, since she was so easily manipulated due to her feelings.]

[She shakes her head.] I figured as such. It seems others that I have spoken to also feel the same. They do not trust the initiative or they suspect that they are hiding something from us. It seems that it is no different than Ivalice.

[ that makes him think; and he knows, right now, that it is not the time or place to talk about ivalice's future or its present (for ashe). it is too soon. perhaps, at a later date... ]

Your abilities are sound, Lady Ashe. I know this from... many observations, both past and future. This, perhaps, is not the time to speak of such things. I wish to speak to you in private, face-to-face, soon. About Ivalice. There is much you should know, and that I would rather be kept between us.

[ then, he breathes in and smiles. ashe may have noticed that he's slowly brightening; he's been very sad and lonely, being the only person from ivalice here. ]

With no representation, our allies--those who have been displaced from their homes--have little say in what the Initiative plans for us. I am not surprised by their suspicion, and am sure you are not, either.

[She looks down at her lap, and takes in a deep breath.] I'm sorry for bothering you with my troubles, it all terribly overwhelming...That sounds like a pleasant idea, much better than waiting here for what's to come next. [She nods, and looks up.]

It certainly didn't. The whole situation would arouse suspicions in anyone, especially one with prior experience in such things. I'm quite sure someone like Vaan would also notice.

It is no trouble. [ he shakes his head slightly. ] I am relieved. To know that I am trustworthy enough for you to air your troubles to me soothes me somewhat, I regret to say. Would you like to put a date to our discussion?

[ ah, vaan. there's a crinkle at his eyes at that, distinctly happy to talk about his friends to someone who knows them. ] Most likely. It is quite concerning, yet... perhaps it can be fixed.

Any day is fine really. I don't see myself as particularly busy right now. [She pauses, then stretches her arms, and shakes her head.] Although I would like to take a day or two to recuperate from all this lost sleep.

You really think so? I mean everything is so...foreign and so much is kept away form us, it's quite difficult to even know where to start investigating and looking into it all.

[ he laughs softly. ] I can imagine.

I do not assume that it will be easy in the least. [ that, he has to admit. ] There is, however, no loss in trying.

I know, it's not as if they could do anything to us. I mean they clearly need us, and any sort of punishment would be detrimental to their cause. [She pauses.] At least that's how it seems at the moment. [The lack of sleep seems to be taking a toll on her thinking.]I hope that made sense.

It did, Lady Ashe. I pray you sleep, however. [ there's a little quirk of a smile on his lips. ] The less your mind has rested, the more I fear you may forget.

We will speak again.

Thank you...Considering the situation, I don't think I would let myself forget as it's not in my, or anyone else's for that matter, best interest to do so.

Ah--quite a few floors above myself, in 304. Yet, not out of reach. That proves to be fortunate. I will visit you at my earliest convenience to speak with you.

[She give a slight smile.] Thank you, I look forward to speaking with you again.
