[The displayed name reads 'Billy Cranston', but the face isn't his. Billy's trying to act as Lady Celebrían would, he really is! He sits up straight, his long hair awkwardly twisted into a loose and messy braid. He hopes that doesn't harm her hair. And he's especially grateful that the lady isn't the makeup type---he'd messed that up for one friend already. But his arms are crossed and there's an odd expression of disappointment on his face. Still, he waves, one hand making a graceful arc in the air.]

By my calculations, we've almost reached the estimated time that the personality displacement will be reversed. And...you know, it's funny. This isn't the first time I've been through this.

I asked one of my best friends to help me test a new invention that was supposed to allow thought-sharing once, but a missing wire resulted in this same effect. We were only switched for one day, and of course we wouldn't deliberately sabotage each other, but even then we made so many mistakes and tarnished each other's reputations so severely that we ended up nearly destroying our friendship. That was painful enough! I can't believe how many would do that intentionally.

Anyway, I've been doing my best to recreate my old device as a backup should the Initiative's efforts fail. If anyone has experience with something similar, can you help? I'll be in my garage on the west side.

He had best be a gentleman, for his sake. [Whoops, was that a bit overprotective? She has her reasons that you will never know.] He seems kind enough, certainly. [There, that's a little more rational.]

[Overprotective and he can probably see it! Yeesh, so secretive, mom.] I'm sure that he will be.

[Heavens help him if he isn't.]

[You say that like that wasn't half her point.]

How have you been coping?

[personal profile] ladyofrivendell 2013-03-25 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Good point.]

Not as well as others. It's hard to paint or sew in this.... condition. [Hear: I'm bored.]
shortandmortal: (It will be alright)

And why is that? Your hands still serve, do they not?

[personal profile] ladyofrivendell 2013-03-25 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
They do but it's easier when I'm myself. And human senses are so dulled.
shortandmortal: (Are you sure you want to do that?)

True enough. You have my sympathies there. Even other elves do not have our sight and hearing, it seems.

Truly. I would not have thought it and yet- [She squints in demonstration.]

[She nods in understanding and pokes at Billy's glasses.] These seem to correct most vision problems.

This, I think, is not truly a problem. I believe most would find her vision adequate. [But you know, she's used to being able to see outrageous distances.]

[personal profile] ladyofrivendell 2013-03-28 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[That makes two of them.] It's hard to believe how different the senses of others are to what we know.
shortandmortal: (It will be alright)

[personal profile] shortandmortal 2013-03-30 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
I had not fully realized the extent of the difference. It is one thing to know and quite another to experience.

[personal profile] ladyofrivendell 2013-03-30 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
It really is. We'll certainly never wonder again. [Assuming they ever had.]
