It ain't like I can practice it! I mean, the charming thing is only marginally less terrible than stealing people's energy. At least the latter probably won't get anyone killed.

I don't see why you can't practice it if you let someone know up front. There are so many people with powers here, you may even find someone who can help you control yours.
