[When the video feed initially comes on, it's pointed slightly too high and catches only the upward flip of hair on the person trying to use it. However the angle is quickly corrected and Tintin comes fully into view.]

I've been doing some digging since my arrival; is it true that the network is the only information delivery system here? No papers at all? [The question's clearly a bit hypothetical, as he barrels forward regardless.] With the network being so active, it seems like it would be easy to misplace high priority information. Or is there a way to break how it's sorted down a little more specifically? By the sound of it, most of us are out of our depths here and it might be a good idea to have some kind of system that's a little more-- [He waffles a moment, looking for the right word.] --well, 'focused' I suppose.

On that note, I'd appreciate any information you might have regarding a few statistics: how long the average Transport stays in Exsilium, any census data on hand, how common the missions the Initiative sends us on are and the like. Any hard fact is a good one.

--Oh! [He sharpens, suddenly serious.] And if anyone knows where to find dog food, I'd appreciate that as well. It comes in a can.

I'm not sure if we have data like that, but my guess is the Initiative would have that info. And you're right, we should have something like a newspaper or newsletter, yeah? All the good news and gossip! That could be fun.

[Tintin snaps his fingers. That's right! He hadn't even thought about asking an Initiative official; it didn't really seem like their was much contact between the transports and anyone higher up the food chain, but that didn't mean it was impossible.] You've got a point there. I'll see what I can do about contacting a higher up.

Gossip I can do without, but-- well, it's a war isn't it? Seems like there should be some kind of publication keeping everyone up to date.

A good idea, since I think most of the time, the Initiative isn't quite sure what they're doing. And there's so many transports, that keeping everyone up to speed would be great!

It could be informative, and fun. Maybe include interviews with transports! With so many people here from different worlds and times, it would be an interesting read.

I've seen that impression floating around a lot on some backdated entries on the network - does the Initiative really not know exactly what they're doing with all of us?

[It's a worrying thought; then again, if they had full control of the... whatever they were using for time travel, then surely there'd be less children here, right?]

I think they've been picking people up and hoping maybe some of us will know how to help them. Things don't seem very organized, do they? I guess we should help them out with that a bit more. It would probably make them happy.

2002? Where on the planet did you come from? Assuming of course that you're from Earth. [Which isn't really a safe bet at all, he doesn't think.]

Indeed! At the time, I was in Japan, travelling with friends. I still think the Initiative meant to grab Nile, and not me. He's much more the soldier that I could ever hope to be!

Oh, Japan! I haven't been yet, but I hear it's marvelous. Do you travel much then?

It is! It's one of my favorite places to visit. And yes, I do. I'm always on the road!

Excellent! Where else have you been, if you don't mind me asking? Is Japan very much like China? I've been to Shanghai myself - though I can't imagine they're too similar other than perhaps on a superficial level. Although with our years being so far apart, who's to say.

You're right, Chinese and Japanese culture are quite different! Especially in my time. And I've been to practically every country in the civilized world, and then some. I've had a lot of time on my hands. I was born in 1690, you see! [Go ahead and take a moment to process that one. He says it like it's the most natural thing ever, though.] What year did you come here from?

[Tintin opens his mouth, all ready to respond and then stops. Falters. Frowns a bit and--] Oh, 1943 or thereabouts. [And says it in a vague, absent kind of way that clearly suggests he's still turning over the other information.]

I'm sorry, you said that you were...born in 1690? But then-- great snakes that would make you 312 years old! How is that even possible?!

You're exactly right! That's because I'm immortal, you see. That's why I do all the travelling. I have all the time in world, quite literally!

[...Immortal... Tintin pauses to give him a solid once over, shock and awe slowly subsiding into something like disbelief. He's not terribly fond of having his leg pulled...]

Immortal, eh? Have you always been so or did you do something that made you that way?

I drank an elixir of immortality. My friend summoned a demon who gave it to us. I know it sounds crazy, but I could really prove it, if you wanted.

[Elixir of immortality? A demon? ...Riiiiight. Sorry if his skepticism is too blatant in his expression.]

The effect might not have as much of an impact on these little computer screens, but I can heal from wounds in a matter of moments. I think I have a kitchen knife nearby...

[Good god, he doesn't really plan on using a knife on himself, does he? He may be a madman, but Tintin's not so cruel as to insist he self harm for the sake of curiosity even if he does think this whole immortality thing is a big crock.]

No! [Tintin reaches for the tablet -- as if forgetting he can't reach straight through it.] That's quite all right, you don't have to.

Oh, then you'll have to take my word on it, eh? [SMILE]

I suppose so. [Because even if he doesn't believe the man's claim, Tintin definitely doesn't want him stabbing himself.]
