It was back from where we were staying, yes. I only just arrived.

Seems to be the case, according to what everyone's saying.

[He doesn't seem all that happy to hear this. Gordon adds in a cautious murmur:]

I... have reason to believe that other worlds slow to a crawl respective to us. So if it's any consolation, she likely won't even know you're gone.

I guess I can handle that. I just wish I knew for sure if she was safe or not. Things aren't so... stable back where I'm from.

[It's a hollow consolation, but it's the best he can offer right now.]

I... think I saw you among the new Transports. I work at the Lab, so it's hard to mess them. How're you guys settling in?

I think I'm doing all right, Gordon. This place seems a lot calmer than where I came from, so that's a nice change at least.

[Small smile.] I know the feeling. It's also amazing how much you appreciate a bed to sleep in and reliable meals, when you don't have either for a while.

Hell yes. I can't tell you how much I've missed the usual "three meals a day" and a clean bed.

No shame in using the respite to heal up and make yourself ready for when you go back, either. And we will go back. It's just a matter of time.

[He tilts his head, fidgets with his glasses.]

Mind if I ask what kind of situation you came out of? I realize it might be a long story; it usually is.

I don't mind, really.

[Lee rubs the back of his neck.] The way I figure is that I gotta tell some people sooner or later. So. Yeah. Anyway.

Where I'm from, about three months ago... something strange happened. I don't know how it happened, what started it exactly, but the dead started to come back. They weren't themselves, though. They'd eat the living.

For the past few months, I've just been trying to get by. Food got scarce and it just seemed like there were more walkers than people.
