if you can tell even before you start dating that you feel like shit unless you're around that person, its pretty likely that you're in love. just feeling comfortable if you're around somebody isn't enough. I like being around you but that doesn't mean i want to be in a romantic relationship with you (sorry if Im breaking your heart here btw). likewise, if you're not around me, i'll live. surprising, i know.

There's some people I know I'd prefer to be around, but you deal, anyway, because that's kinda what you need to do. Love someone, miss someone, feel better when they're around, and worse when they're away, okay, I get that. I really do! And I know what that feels like, but it's not like you wallow around feeling like that all the time. Not like everyone will recognize that's how they're feeling, either!
