002 [Video]

[Lara comes onscreen, and she looks tired. Tired and disheveled. Tired and disheveled with some cuts and bruises.

But mostly so, so tired. Perhaps a better word would be "beat" or "disheartened."]

... I was wrong.

About leaving, to clarify. The Initiative is ... well-protected. But to be fair I am not often wrong.

[She gives a sigh.]

... I am going to explore the area, then. See what has happened to my homeland.
vaudevil: (Oh well. At least I tried.)

Lee Chaolan, at your service. May I ask the same of you?

A pleasure to meet you. Since you asked me nicely, I'll explain.

It's no secret that I have been working on a few projects here and there. Those projects are purely for the best interest of everyone here which is an ambitious task.

My ultimate goal isn't as cut and dry as the inventions I create. You see, infiltrating the United Earth takes a lot more effort than simply walking in through the front door. The same goes for the Initiative. I prefer to remain neutral and the more I see from both sides gives me an edge.

While others squabble over dominance, which still remains a constant to this day, it gives me an opening. The United Earth, from what I have managed to understand, have this insatiable habit of subjugating their residents. That is simply unacceptable. To be stripped of free will is a fate worse than death, in my opinion.
vaudevil: (You say it's not?)

That's a polite way of putting it. Most just call me a snake and try to cut off my head.

[Which isn't far from the truth but at least he's being honest. He takes a breath and responds to Lara's question.]

For now, it's strictly environmental. I don't know about you, but I would like to see the sun instead of this constant rain.
vaudevil: (Ah ha.)

True, though I must be insistent that the decay the rain has caused isn't normal. In this case, I firmly believe that London's sponge is far too full to handle much more, let alone the chemicals the clouds absorbed from the previous world war.
vaudevil: (Go on.)

How kind, though I'm forced once more to ask you to refrain from such compliments until the task is complete and the results come to fruition. Otherwise, they're empty words.

Now, about this wall you intend to breech. Maybe I can help.
vaudevil: (Ah ha.)

No trouble at all.

[He chuckles softly.]

For starters, I don't have much information at the moment. There are a number of variables that are too liquid to hold. However, I can say that I can help you in your training. The AI that was retrieved recently has fixed the problem with the virtual training room.

It's only a suggestion, and since the AI was kind enough to inform me that any and all environments can be used, perhaps creating a program for infiltration would work to your advantage.
vaudevil: (Nope. I'm on vacation.)

Rest assured, what you plan to do is safe with me. Just claim training. That's what the name on the door says, correct?
