[In the background, there are various items collected and some of those items have been fabricated into other things and one of them looks like a mini cannon that is also a working model along with a working model of a soil remediation machine that's about the size of a table. There's a computer monitor with a schematic of a sound redirection device and a sonic generator used primarily for defense.

The massive vortex cannon is still in view but is now outside of the workshop. There's some gas tanks, a glass fish tank with a few plants growing inside of it from seeds he collected in New Mexico and small animal inside of another that he managed to find. It's not a pet. There's also an evaporator and a distiller as the camera moves around.

I'm currently working on getting a few projects in order and I would like your help. I'll explain them more in detail. It seems that the recipient of the robotic arm is no longer here so we have that to use for our projects. It's a precision instrument and I'll teach you all how to use it properly.

What are all those things?

The accouterments you see are meant for environmental improvement. I can attest that they are not weapons.

The large cannon is a vortex cannon that creates a ring of pressure meant to push aside the clouds for some much needed light while the model device you see behind me the size of a table is a mobile soil remediation machine. The trouble is creating the fuel source to power it.

Currently, since fresh food is relatively scarce, hydroponics is necessary. I've been working on these things for a while. It takes time to make anything worth while to use.

Ah, I should put a correction to that. The vortex cannon is mostly my work though I have had help in fine tuning the device in the later stages of the project. The soil cleaner has not gone into production yet. I created the model and there is some need in changing a few things that require the attention of my protege.

I would be very interested in seeing how your devices work, when they are completed. I hope to acquire a small plot of land out past the city for my own uses. It would be a great help to have some of the earth there revived.

Do you also work on a machine to send us home?

I apologize for taking such a clandestine approach to our conversation just now, but you must understand that the Unite Earth is listening and anything about time travel is putting us at risk.

You see, I don't have access to that technology, yet, nor does the United Earth know that the Initiative has such a device. I've been working on a way to get close to that machine with very little success. For now, I'm forced into improving our conditions here and I'll continue my efforts and keep trying.

I wouldn't expect you to trust me so soon as we just met, though I would like to break the ice and introduce myself to you. I am Lee Chaolan.

Yes. Although I am working independently, I do have my sources here and there in places. Sometimes what I obtain is a hit or miss. I don't work for the Initiative and I don't work for the United Earth. I would rather not be tied to either side.

[Although he'll definitely keep both sides from discovering his motives for gaining what he knows.]

Eventually, I would like to take a trip outside of this island to do a bit of exploring just to see if there is a chance we are being lied to by either side. Think of it as a mission of truth.

I have spoken with others who share the same goal of escaping this prison. I have already agreed to help one group and find myself belonging to what might be another. I will offer my assistance to you, too, but it seems a shame to me that we are all so divided despite our shared interests.

I will not ask you to do anything that I can't do myself. If you feel that what I may is unnecessary, I cannot force you otherwise. However, I am going to keep you in mind should you have the time in between to aid me.

For now, I'm more concerned in our current conditions so you have plenty of time to get your feet wet, so to speak.
