Two truths and a lie used to be big with my friends. You say three "facts" about you or things you've done or seen. People try to pick one out as a lie, and then it's their turn to do the same thing. For example:

1. I've been crocodile wrestling.
2. I once flunked a vocabulary test because I forgot to put my name on the top.
3. I crashed a dune buggy when I was twelve and despite totaling the dune buggy, the worst I ended up with was a badly scraped up elbow.

Anyone up and around for a game?

Sorry Collette, in my old age my memory isn't so great. [He thinks he might've heard about it, but he hadn't really been paying a whole lot of attention to the city or its news for the past few weeks. Was it news from the past few weeks?]

I guess I haven't really been watching. So, what about it?

That's the thing about it! There didn't use to be a base on the moon. That's the part of history that's new!

Aah, that happened, huh? [He thinks about the last mission he was on and shrugs it off. It feels like it was a while ago now.]

This history-changing business is amazing, isn't it?

It's a total thrill... scary, but really cool.

( She lapses into silence. The frightening things are sometimes heavier on her mind than she'd like to admit. )

[It's the first time Collette's fallen silent on him. Phoenix pushes her for a couple minutes, also quiet, before he takes one hand off the chair and pats her shoulder.]

Not everyone should mess with time. Let's hope they know what they're doing, and you and I are going to do our best to get through it.

( She shakes her head, startling out of her own thoughts. )

Huh? Oh yeah, for sure. We'll get through it just fine. I'm good at that! The getting through things thing.

There we go, that's the spirit. Now, I found us a diner just down the street. Are you up to it?

If they've got eggs, I'm your brinner buddy.

( Said with a grin, looking toward the light shining out across the cobblestones. Or pavement. It was a curious combination of them both. )

Do you think it's true people change careers every five years on average or so?

We're going to investigate that right now, captain. [He pushes her forward, rolling her right up to the window with a menu and looking over it. There are eggs on there, which he points out proudly.]

Bingo. Now what were you saying -- career change?

... Haha, who knows? Maybe. I think it can happen to some people.
