[ THAT SURE IS A GLOVED HAND COVERING THE CAMERA but never fear, she figures it out after a moment and waves sheepishly. Exsilium, say hello to one half of your new magical girl duo. ]

Looks like there's been a bit of a problem, huh? Lucky for you guys, magical girl Sayaka is here to take care of everything! [ She holds her sword up with a grin, cape fluttering behind her. ] Just leave it to me! If anyone needs any help, I'll definitely be there straight away.

[A second later, another little magical girl face pops up. There's some fumbling around when she and Sayaka nudge shoulders and push together for room, and then she clears her throat and begins, nervously:]

If you say so...are all other magical girls this flashy?

[Mami-senpai had not mentioned it. She had also stressed the importance of keeping their magical girl personas a secret, but surely in this strange place, it wouldn't matter much, right? ...She hoped so.

Kyouko bows her head toward the camera politely, and speaks up a little louder.] Excuse me, everyone! I don't mean to be too forward, but...

[She straightens up a little, gets her game face on. She's holding a spear about twice her size, but it doesn't look like she's struggling to hold it.] We noticed there are a lot of kids around, and we want to help! So - please count on us! We'll help gather all of them up.

[A pause. She turns to Sayaka, and in a stage-whisper:] Did that sound cool enough?

You sounded fine! Geez, Kyouko, you worry too much.

Wait, you know Mami-san too? [ SO HAPPY RN ] She's probably back home helping everyone. Until she shows up, it's our responsibility to protect the peace of this place.

[ gonna make her senpai proud...!! ]

[She scratches her head, and looks confused.] You know Mami-senpai? That's weird. You don't seem like the magical girls she told me about, Sayaka.

... You mean the ones that only care about themselves, right? [ While it's weird that Mami wouldn't tell her about Kyouko (and vice versa), with a bit of a stretch, she can come up with some kind of reasoning for it. ] I think they're more common. It makes sense that she'd warn you about those.

She didn't use those exact words... [Kyouko bites her bottom lip, apparently a little uncomfortable with the wording.] But she said that magical girls who hunt familiars are less common. I think it's part of our duty, to protect as many people as we can with our gifts. I would feel like I was throwing this power away if I didn't.

Exactly! [ She brightens instantly when Kyouko continues, seemingly forgetting the darker train of thought. ] Geez, am I glad I met you. When Mami-san gets here, the three of us should work together to bring peace to this place.

I'm glad I met you too. To be honest...

[She tugs at the ruffles of her uniform, suddenly embarrassed.] It's pretty dumb, but I was a little scared when I woke up and no one I knew was around. That's childish, huh? I'm a magical girl. I shouldn't be afraid of stuff like that. But meeting you helped me feel a lot better.

[Gosh, she feels like a dork.] Thank you.

[ ... Well that's new. Sayaka rubs the back of her head, trying not to blush or laugh. ]

It's okay to be scared, you know. You've just gotta remember that things always work out in the end. [ Suppressing her laughter proves too difficult, and she nudges the other girl's shoulder with a lopsided grin. ] Even if it's just the two of us, we'll show everyone what it means to be a real magical girl duo!

[phantasmata]

...Yeah. You're right! [She nudges back a little, apparently not minding the laughter. She figures Sayaka isn't making fun of her for admitting such a thing, after all.] Let's both do our best. We'll get all the kids rounded up in no time!
