[Winchesters show no fear. Winchesters have no fear. Nope he is not afraid at all, even though this is basically the nightmare his father jammed into his head for years now. Waking up alone, in a city he half knows as if from a dream, populated by freaks. The face that stares through the tablet is that of a very fiercely determined little boy making his best effort at being intimidating.]

I don't know what you're playing at, whoever you are, but this is the worst mistake you've ever made. If you've taken me you know who my dad and brother are – and they'll come for me. You better believe they'll make you regret this – so just do yourselves a favor and take me back. It's your only way out.

Well he's not actually surprised, Dean letting him go at home was unlikely, so here is seems completely insane.

But that feeling of betrayal won't let go. He finally turns to face his brother.]

In the bathroom. [ he's tired of this though. it's enough that he keeps losing sam only to regain one with no previous memories, but to fight with them all too? or to disappoint them all? even a younger version, like this?

dean exhales loudly, shoulders losing some of their tension in favor of fatigue as sam looks at him. ]

I get bein' in this place with me lookin' like this must be weird, Sam, and that you're confused and worried-- And I guess the whole amulet thing doesn't help, but just bear with me, okay? I don't want to fight with you.

Now I'm gonna get you a towel, and-- we'll continue from there.

[No, it doesn't, but he just nods quietly and stays standing there, not wanting to get the couch wet.

The look he gives his brother now is more resolved; so Dean makes a friend. So that friend means more to him than him. That doesn't mean his brother doesn't love him anymore. Right? Right. That's just stupid. And he's not stupid, he's not. He's too old for these stupid jealousy fits.]

[ he knows sam is just a kid, and that him being...difficult is something sam's done very well at all ages, including this. but it's a relief when no words are mumbled back. so dean take the chance to motion him along. ]

Come on, you need to ditch the soaked clothes. [ no point bringing a towel here.

at the door to the bathroom, he stops and motions for sam to go in. ] There're towels in there, I'll get you a change of clothes- [ unfortunately massive ones bc wow you're not a bigfoot yet. ] - okay? Unless you need help, or something. [ baby-winchester right now, after all. ]

[Oh no you didn't -- prepare yourself for a miniature sized bitchface there Dean.]

I've been taking care of myself in there for almost a decade, [more like half of it but shhhh] I think I got it.

Whatever you say, big man. [ compared to the one he gets these days, this one's almost adorable in its...tiny, bitching sam way. so dean simply smirk, reaches a hand over and ruffles that already ridiculous haircut of yours despite how you might feel about it. ]

[Grumble grumble he hates being patronized you know this.]

[But yes ok the familiar gesture is not entirely unwelcome.]

[ laughing quietly. ]

Bossy, bossy. [ but he'll go, he'll go. ] Don't get stuck in there. [ okok, he'll just leave sam to it now in favor of finding the most ridiculous thing for him to wear. ]

[Such a cruel big brother.

The door is slammed a little bit behind him before Sam gets busy washing away the rain.

He takes a good twenty minutes, just trying to relax under the warm water and moving slowly, suddenly exhausted, before peeking his head out the door, a towel wrapped tightly around his legs.]

Dean?

[He needs those clothes :|]

Catch- [ christ, you look ridiculous, sam. but here you go, dean'll just toss the clothes at you the moment he shows up. ]

It's the best I can right now. Don't exactly have little-people sizes stashed away anywhere. [ it's just one of his shirts, and a pair of boxer shorts. ]

[And it's huge and God this is so embarrassing. He catches it in his hands and...

And he's supposed to go around in boxers? Seriously? Congrats, you just made sure he won't leave the house.

One last bitchface before the door closes again and next time it opens he comes out dressed. Or rather drowned.]

[ let dean just laugh, okay, he doesn't have much reason to usually but this? yeah, he forgot you small you really used to be, sammy.

and come on, it's not like he has pants to fit you. ]

Here's to hoping, Sammy. [ because he doesn't want you here anymore than you want to stay. but for different reasons, although familiar ones. sam's safety is forever dean's number one concern, and so it is right now as well. ]

But for now, best get settled. You're staying here with me, okay?

[That angry bitterness that Dean has moved on from him, outgrown him and not just literally, creeps back in.]

You sure you want me around.

[What no fast food joints with clowns to dump him at?]

I want you safe, Sam. Whether that's with me here or back home doesn't matter. But while you're here, yeah, I want you around. Heck, I expect to know exactly where you are twenty-four seven, okay?

[Have an eyebrow raise at that.]

[Too many unexpected things come up in a day back home for them to have tabs on each other 24/7. So here?]

Well...it will, 'cause I say so. This place is different Sam, there's no hunting-- or not the kind we're used to, anyway.

[ bullshit, but he hopes sam buys it anyway. ]

...no hunting? Five minutes in this place I saw at least a dozen things dad would go after.

No, it's not that simple. I mean, I live in this apartment, sure. With a couple roommates, but there're other things that need doing, too.

[So ok. Maybe after a super emotional and stressful day like he's had - that's really nice to hear.

It doesn't make him a baby, right? Right. Of course not. But after feeling so betrayed about that amulet - that feeling is still there of course - it feels really good to hear Dean caring like that.

So Dean is going to get an armful of little brother clinging to him again, whether he likes it or not.]
