You know, can't say I really expected to be spending a birthday here. It happens with war, obviously this time we didn't exactly all volunteer.

Nathaniel shows up at the pub some time later. He recognizes John immediately, though they haven't met before. Those netbooks they'd been given were definitely handy, even if he didn't fully understand how the thing could possibly work.

"John," he holds out his hand smiling. "Good to finally meet you. And happy birthday."

It's the same on John's part, recognizing the man he had extended to joining him at the pub even if they didn't meet before really. Still the netbooks had their contacts listed.

He takes the hand to give a light shake in greeting, smiling in turn. "Nathaniel, right? It's good to meet you too. Thanks."
