I had been wondering, has anyone been keeping tabs on the Transport population? Our numbers, worlds of origin, dates of appearance and disappearance, things of that nature? I have a feeling that the Initiative has records if no one else, but given their frequently difficult nature, there seems to be little point in asking.

Beyond that, there seem to be a fair number of Transports who have combat or leadership experience in some form or another. Would those of you who fall into either category be willing to share what that experience has been? Naturally, if you fall into both categories, the question is doubly relevant.

On an unrelated note, would anyone be interested in a game of chess?

My primary skill set is what apparently is referred to as 'commando' work: behind-lines infiltration and disruption of logistics, communication and command.

I also helped start a slave rebellion, teaching some basic weapons work - knife-fighting, clubs and staves, things easily used by those on hand.

May I ask by which means you carried out these disruptions? And are the weapons you mentioned the only ones with which you are skilled or are there others?

For the first forty years of my life, I was a soldier, and I spent thirty-six of those years as the commander of an engineering regiment. I've fought in two wars, and various other battles. When I retired from the military around seven years ago, I became the lord-governor of my kind's nation.

There may be several patterns or none at all. It's impossible tell without any data, unless of course we choose to simply take the Initiative at its word.

What level of technology did your regiment deal with? Were you ever a soldier on the front lines or did you assume a support role?

While I have not gathered information on the Transport population, I have multiple years of combat training and experience. The bulk of these experiences have been travelling about Ivalice with a guardian. Ivalice is... teeming with aggressive creatures, transformed by magickal energy or wild in their own right.

[ a pause; he lights up a bit. ]

Chess? I've not heard of this game.

[Ah, yes, he remembers you. Apart from a faint nod of acknowledgement, though, he doesn't mention it, instead focusing on what Larsa has said.]

How would you describe your skill set?

Chess is a game of strategy. The rules are rather lengthy, but in essence, each player takes turns to move their pieces, each of which has its own unique way of traveling across the board. The goal is to capture the enemy king.

Well, I have always pursued the path of a warrior. [ And she sounds proud of it, too. ] I fight with a sword, and I've even conquered a dungeon.

[ She won't tell him of her status as a princess, though. It's not as if she has an influential position in the imperial court, anyway. ]

Could you give me more details than that? Who were the main players in this war? By which means was it fought? How did you win?

I've got some fighting experience, mostly in a small team against various types of monsters, not people.

Not quite yet, although I do have a potential lead. At this stage, however, it seems far more likely that this is something we'll need to compile ourselves.

Considering the social obligation to formally introduce on this network, compilation of the arrival dates and identities of our population shouldn't be too difficult. I'm not sure about the rest.

A social obligation that many ignore or put off for a time, to say nothing of the fact that new arrivals frequently don't state explicitly which world they're from and cannot announce when they're about to unexpectedly disappear.

Besides, going through each and every past post to compile lists of names is altogether too inefficient.
