Is this truly the state of the world?

[Gilgamesh asked the machine while not realizing it was on, wondering if he was simply being shown a farce of the Earth. The reality of the world around him sunk in quickly, but he seemed a little disappointed. The King stood in the middle of the street, holding his tablet in one hand and visible in the corner of the screen he held a golden crown with a jeweled ring attached to the front of it.]

So few survivors left. With this artifact being the only interesting thing presented to me...

[His teeth clenched and his expression hardened.] What a torrid vacation. The degradation of the world is no surprise, but these spoils are a disappointment. At the very least, I would have preferred to see the 'end' of civilization as it happened rather than being inclined to save it in its aftermath.

I, Gilgamesh, shall oversee this.

[Speaking of caution--Gilgamesh is totally pulling a giant jug of wine out of the Gate with his free hand.]

My judgement does not fall upon the ignorant. As it stands so far--I've been fairly forgiving.

[ Glancing at that action with interest. She can only assume it's wine judging by the shape of the container. Hurgh, she'd like to have a drink if she could. ]

It is a bit of a surprise you would display such magnanimity in the face of all this destruction and ruins that litter around us.

[It's not like he was going to drive anywhere, fortunately.]

It should not be a surprise at all. Even imitations of 'Kings' are capable of remaining stalwart in such a depressing situation.

Though, I suppose I am the only one who may look forward to it.

[ That would've made an exciting first day news. ]

Then I hope that this force that is supposed to rally against us make their move. I have heard of attacks here and there, but the ones that I have spoken with tell me that what most do is sit around and wait while they bear down the hatches.

Ah, civilian tactics, then. I assume that most 'participants' who have been brought here are non-combatants, then.

[Otherwise, why would they err so heavily on the side of caution rather than taking immediate, heavy action?]

[ News at 11: nets several tickets in the process. ]

Correct. I have been given a list that only names several persons of military or law enforcement status. There were mentions of children being summoned here as well.

[ It wouldn't take much to reason why the Initiative couldn't afford to do a frontal assault. Their "army" makeup is horrendous. ]

Hmph. Don't look unto those lists too heavily. Though it seems the ratio is in poor taste, being of the military and police station doesn't imply as dense a weakness as you may believe.

I've yet to see whether certain individuals are mercenaries or off-hand warriors. [Not that he cared. Gilgamesh didn't care to lead an army at the moment, despite the fact that he apparently possessed the vast capability to do so.]

Perhaps there are? Or will be. New arrivals come by every month, and even I am not foolish to believe that the youth of this army present a liability. It will be quite interesting to see what they are all capable of.

There is no need for me to raise my hopes in this case. I will take the strongest and the most worthy, regardless of their potential in the end. Not all men and women live to their true potential or even a fraction of it. There must be luck coupled with skill and there must be might coupled with endurance. Those who do not survive were never meant to survive.

[The beliefs of a King who unified the world. It was clear that Gilgamesh more closely represented a Spartan than anyone might have imagined. Except for the fact that he didn't slaughter the young, he did in fact demand a lot of his people.]

[ And Saber recognizes the parallels and could only smile widely. Being a massive Greekophile had its perks and the Spartans and their efforts were widely known, even to the modern age. ]

Mmm. You speak of principles a group of legendary warriors lived by. [ Pause. Then she chuckles. ] Or perhaps they took inspiration from you? Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing who catches your ubiquitous eyes.

[ Of course Saber would silently tout herself to be one of them... if she wasn't so severely handicapped right now. But the statement was clear that, even if she wasn't looking to be judged by this man, she wouldn't oppose it if it went to good graces. Her self-worth is all she needs. ]

Strength and conquest have always existed in the world. Striving towards greater strength and glory is nothing new.

[Gilgamesh couldn't claim pride over his exemplary kingship unless it was the end result of his life. What he did in his youth to strengthen his kingdom didn't resemble the glory of his later days, he believed.]

Whether or not I am disappointed or I am impressed will not lend itself any greater example. The end result will be the same--the world will end and I will be the last left.

I only seek entertainment until the end if the world's events will allow it. It is wise to be observant of a King's desires, but you'll wither and die waiting for my entertainment.

H'oh? Does that not suggest you will remain in a constant state of boredom and idleness until you find that which you seek?

[ She really couldn't see this man staying still and definitely not be out of some form of entertainment for long. And the concept of dying, well... haha, that situation already presents itself by her being a Heroic Spirit by default. ]

It would be nothing new. In my youth I was plagued by boredom. In adulthood, I had no time for it.

If anything, it will be kind remembrance to dwell on boredom once more. When the world sets itself to my beck and call--I'll forget restlessness awhile. [It was one thing to be bored. It was another thing to willingly let one's self be bored for the sake of future excitement. Gilgamesh was confident he would last the tale of time.

He had every reason to believe.]

[ So was that all before or after the whole 'lord's right' bout? ]

That will be a sight to see. I am sure to spectate such a moment when the time comes. [ Implying that, yes, she'll also last the cataclysm should it happen. A Servant of her caliber could do no less. ] Such a riveting conversation, but I am sure we will have chances for more, King of Heroes.

[Let's say up until some clay dude kicked him in the throat.]

Ah, correct. For the moment, I shall ascend these city walls and continue to survey the remainder of the world.
