She clears her throat.] Er, hi there. My name's Shirley, and... These people--y'know, the Initiative and all--they're really not picky when it comes to people who end up here and all, huh? So I just wanted to clarify something: not everything has to be about fighting, right? I can't say I'm good with anything like diplomacy either, but it's a better start than something like shooting someone...

Swimming, huh? Pretty intense activity - you'd need to be pretty strong to do well with it. That could be good for a lot of things.

Ah, a low-magic world then.
Lemme put it this way: In other worlds, magic exists. Further, magic exists here, at least for those who knew it back home. However it exists, it can work with conflicting forms of magic and resolve them.
I'm willing to bet you could learn my magic pretty easily.

There's learning magic - also known as Wizardry... But I have no clue how you'd start there without a school.
Then there's intuitive magic. Picking up, bit by bit, on how to prod reality to, if not your every whim, at least a few of them. Less powerful, perhaps, but there's still plenty you can do with it.
Best part is, anyone able to pick up an instrument, speak with confidence, or even dance can learn all of it.
