[Lee doesn't look like he's in a great mood. The screams outside the workshop door made him open it, then he shut it fast. Sliding a steel rod through the handles, it's clear he's not going anywhere.]

I think it's better I stay inside today. The natives look a bit restless. Anyone have any ideas for a good, quite, addictive game that isn't solitaire?

[Thankfully there are no windows but he will be stuck in his chosen lab location for a while. He tries to hide his nervousness. He's a robotics engineer, not a zombie hunter. Jeez.]

Tell me when it's over.

[ Guess who else is doing his best to avoid the zombie monsters! This guy. ]

Not yet. It's interesting though trying to play that game alone. However, I wouldn't mind playing it. At least it wouldn't be zombies.

You know, I hadn't thought about the games over the network. This sounds like fun.

[Oh, you bet he's going to register his name now. Oh, good, Lee isn't taken. He grins and sets it up.]

That's not a bad idea, actually. I added you. My username is the same, Lee. Thanks for the tip. During times of chaos, I'm going to use this function extensively.

[ He... frowns slightly. ]

While I must admit that I'm not outside there, fighting these ... mutated animals, if you have the skills to deal with a crisis situation it's best not to avoid it entirely.

[He looks around him and then back to his rapier.]

Oh yes, let me tickle their ribs with a needle. I left my golf clubs in my other world. Those would be equally as effective.

[Just as his hand touched the hilt of his rapier, it changed into a golf club. This makes his face twist in confusion.]

Odd.

[ Odd barely scratches the surface. Then again, if people could transform into animals, then what was so strange about this...? What was the purpose? ]

... That wasn't a golf club before, was it?

No, it most certainly wasn't. I recall it being a lot sharper and pointier. What in the hell am I going to do with this?

[Yep, there's a little bit of panic in his voice now.]

Is this what the Initiative means by "sentient" weapons? This had better be a joke!

It was never, at any point of its prior existence, a golf club?

[ He still feels a bit foolish for even having to ask such questions -- but this is Exsilium. It's almost necessary. ]

[He's looking at it carefully and even shaking it. His chuckle is even embarrassed sounding.]

No...I don't think so. It's a weird thing. I think we're being accosted by gremlins.

Gremlins. [ A pause. ] ...Do you mean that in the mythical creature sense, or are these monsters that actually existed in your own reality?

[ Frankly, he considers it absurd that he even has to ask this question. ]

[He wrinkles his nose in a playful manner.]

If they existed in my world, I hadn't seen them yet. Instead, we get these huge mythical creatures that come about into reality through some negative force or simply because my...no, Heihachi wants to gain power. It's a never ending cycle with that man.

If there were such a thing here, which I am inclined to believe that it's possible due to the way that door likes to snag people from their worlds, I wouldn't put it past them to bring in something that could cause mayhem.

In essence, if we were to sit by idly, we could watch the world burn but that isn't my style. I'm too proactive.

[The zombies outside are starting to break through his makeshift barrier and instantly he's up on his feet and smacks the door with the golf club, smashing the zombie's fingers.]

I already said I don't want any!

[ Edgeworth is about to make some quip or question about these other mythical creatures but is rather distracted by the appearance of the so-called zombies in the feed. ]

Where are you?

[After Lee smashes the zombie's fingers, he pushes the barrel of the hail cannon toward the door. In his haste, the view is jittery and hard to see but the noise indicates that he's not willing to go down without a fight and then comes the whistle and the boom.

Heavy breathing is heard and Lee's voice soon after.]

That's it? Only three? With the racket they were making, I could have sworn there were more.

[And now the dejected sigh.]

[ Still watching, eyes wide, he cringes slightly when he hears that boom. ]

And what the hell was that?

Oh, it's just a simple vortex concussion cannon, or hail cannon for short.

[He points the pad so Edgeworth can see it. The large tanks that contained the gas and the heavy chamber box that creates the whistling sound is attached to a large funnel that spans the length of the garage easily. Since it's in the folded position, pointing it up would cause it to rip a hole in the ceiling.]

I have a bit too much fun at times with my work.

[He smiles with pride. Those zombies were definitely knocked off their feet.]

[ He is entirely unsure what to make of what he's seeing. ]

... You're building an armory?

[He's a little bit shocked but that quickly fades. He shakes his head emphatically.]

Huh? Oh no. This is the cannon that will be used in my proposal that I will be using to demonstrate to push aside the clouds.

There will be more, but this is the prototype. Of course, that is if it's approved for use. I may widen the barrel some and give it a longer funnel.

All it does is push air at a very fast rate.

When you say 'push aside the clouds', do you mean that literally? [ And still, even something that just blasts air can be used as a weapon... ]

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Honestly, the cannon is much too large to be used easily as a weapon. Hm, I wonder if I can build a sonic deflector or a sound dampener. That bang was a little loud.

[He knows that, but hopefully it won't be used for that purpose. A little loud is a serious understatement.]

You're an engineer of some ilk, then?

More specifically, I'm a robotics engineer. Physics was something I had to learn.

I see. [ a beat. ] Does the Initiative know that you're creating these machines?

They do now.

[That's something he can't deny. There's the evidence in the background.]

So, you didn't ask their permission first.

I never ask permission. I build it and then submit it for approval. Think of it as show and tell.

[They asked him for help, not the other way around.]

And do your creations usually garner the Initiative's approval?

Well, I don't know yet. Words don't offer much in way of evidence so in order to achieve any approval, I have to build it first, present it to them and hope that it will be approved. You see, this is the life of an inventor. One just doesn't simply talk, they have to prove it works.

[ Proof... Edgeworth does like the sound of that. ]

So you've not yet submitted anything physical to them for evaluation.

Not yet. I need the evidence first before I can present it to them.

[Which he does have some of the tests done but it's not enough.]

Just what sort of 'evidence' is required?

I thought I just said it.

[He sighs and begins explaining it again.]

I need to prove that it works the way it's intended to. The zombies were only minor. I know it works for pushing things back but they're not clouds. Clouds are always shifting, and at a fast rate, I need something powerful enough to keep them back.

I believe that I was asking for more specific details of its function. But I see what you mean, now. How long do you think it will take?

Give or take a few more weeks. Maybe a month and a half tops if we don't get any strange visitors or other obstacles.

I would be interested in hearing about the results. [ But he isn't particularly feeling brave enough to ask for a demonstration right now. ]

Believe me, I would like to see those results myself. It should work in theory. Unfortunately, with any theory, it needs to be tested to become fact, yes?
