 [ A beautiful elf maiden's face appears on the feed. She has a delicate appearance, but from all the grime, dirt and blood marring her features, it's obvious that she's far from defenseless. The video is shaky because the hand holding it is trembling in fear. She's wearing a firm, authoritative expression however -- the expression of a no-nonsense General.  ]

My name is Laurana. We can exchange pleasantries when this place is safe.

I've noticed competent men and women took up arms to keep them off, but what about people that need help? Is there a closed, walled off space where non-combatants and children could be safe? I will volunteer to keep such a place together. All I ask is cooperation, especially from healers and people that know how to fight.

If there is one already, then I would like to help as much as I can. Another bow to the numbers helps.

[ When she's done, she gives a polite nod and the feed goes off. ]

I certainly hope things of this nature aren't a common occurrence, General. If not, it's quite a welcome.

Oh, I hope they aren't. Those creatures are... horrifying. The people bitten turn into wretched, unthinking creatures.

[ She trails off sadly. And then, struck with a sudden thought, she almost jumps. ]

Oh! Governor. You're competent in combat, right? And draconians are rather sturdy and hard to kill...

You must fight with me!

[ YOU MUST. ]

Unfortunately, not as competent as I once was.

[He holds up his right hand, showing the mass of scars on the palm.]

Though, I have gotten some practice with my left hand over the years, sparring with my mate.

[ ...Well, of course they do, Laurana. She blushes a bit because of the possibly rude outcry. ]

W-what I mean is, if it's possible you would get hurt in the flurry, then you need not come to my aid. Stay safe, Governor.

[His smile is genuinely fond as he lowers his hand.]

It's a long story, better suited for less dangerous times.

[And then, he snorts softly, definitely amused. It's extremely rare for other races, especially elves, to say such things and not be mocking about it.]

While I appreciate your concern for me, fear of injury has never dissuaded a draconian from battle before. I will join you.

[ Normally, she would just say that out of politeness' sake but... she is curious. ]

[Even at his point of the timeline, it's not commonly known that females exist. It's only a rumor in several areas.]

[ Oh, a human from where she's from. How exciting! They're a lot easier to trust than draconians. ]

I have met Governor Kang. You are from Krnn?

I am. The Khalkhist Mountains, specifically.

[ she's pretty sure she's supposed to hate elves, but... well, the other elves here haven't been too bad. and this one doesn't seem awful yet.

hesitantly: ] I've been here almost three months as the only one from Krynn, and now suddenly there are two more. It's an interesting trend.

Oh! I've heard of the land, but I've never ventured there personally.

[ She gives a bright smile. ] It's nice to find something familiar in a foreign land, isn't it? Perhaps more will arrive, eventually. I look forward to it.

Not more elves, hopefully. You'll be outnumbering humans shortly.

[ it's... mostly meant as a joke, but she hasn't really mastered human expressions yet, so it comes out with a smug looking smirk. ]

[ You know, normally she'd be offended, but... given the circumstances back at home, unless the elf in question was Gilthanas, she actually agrees. She doesn't want to face more of her own people. ]

There... are a lot of elves here, aren't there? Let's hope they don't turn big enough to organize. I would be terribly frustrated if they end up building an isolated government, now. Elven politics are terrible.

[ what, this elf just dissed elves better than she could dis elves. (well, okay, she could probably do better, but still.) ]

I — [ uh... ] ...Doubt that will be a problem. Humans still outnumber you by a great deal.

[ Laurana laughs, bitterly. Oh so very jaded. ]

You say that like they wouldn't try anyway. I've known some elves that would rather die than talk to humans.

Really? [ no wait CATCHING HERSELF she's supposed to already know about everything. she looks annoyed for a second. ] That is— that seems stupid. You both serve Paladine [ ugh ] and his sort, don't you?

Somebody said they're turning the clinic into a shelter! Sounded like they've got healers there too.

Then I need to find this... clinic. Where is it?

S'not too far from the apartments and last I checked, there's a red dragon flying over it.

[Which should be pretty hard to miss, but he offers anyway:]

You're new, right? I can try to get you there.

[ You know, last time she checked, red dragons are bad mojo. ]

A red dragon. Is that... safe? Are red dragons not minions of Takhisis?

Tak... what? Uh, it's protecting the place from attacks and I haven't seen it eat anybody! So it oughta be safe probably.

I... I supposes it doesn't matter. I have a dragonlance, should it decide to attack. [ She's not sure if she can take down a dragon by herself on foot but!! She would certainly try. ] All right. Lead the way, kind man. [ location ping. ]

[He sounds piqued, maybe even a little impressed. This dragon-slaying business seems pretty badass to a boy from modern Japan.]

Pretty sure it'll be cool, though. Odds are this one's not even from your world.

[The feed switches briefly to video as he talks, presumably so Laurana will know who to look out for.]

[audio] the governor kang might join!

[ It's pretty badass where she's from, too. ]

Cool? You mean it'll breathe ice? [ WHAT IS LINGO EVEN. ] All right, take care!

[ She'll be here, taking down zombie animals with her dragonlance as she waits. It's actually quite a sight; the elf maiden is a skilled warrior that swings her weapon with ease. Underneath her cool composure, however, she can feel her heart beating way too fast in her throat. ]

Nah, meant it'll be oka—...all right!

[He's promptly drowned out by the dull roar of rushing air, which... doesn't last long. Kazu wasn't kidding when he said he'd be there in a sec. He's found her in less than a minute, though she may not notice him right-away with how fast he's going—barely a shimmer darting from roof to roof; he flickers into sight when he's about a block away, momentum curbed with a sharp kick that sends up sparks.

And then there's just some dopey kid in funny wheeled shoes and a terrible beanie waving at her, wide-eyed as he watches her in action.]

HEY! Laurana, right?

[Best give her a heads-up before he comes any closer!]
