[The video comes on to show a young man seeming a bit overwhelmed. He speaks almost as if to himself; it's obvious that he's unused to devices like the tablet, if not technology overall.]

This seems so much like a dream, but I'm sure I'm awake.

I confess I don't completely understand what's going on. But if I understood correctly, there is war, or the threat of it, here as well. I don't know that I'll be much use.

[He pauses, adjusts the tablet. When he speaks again he sounds more focused.]

Forgive me, I neglected to introduce myself. My name is Saemus.

Yeah, you understand it. At least that's what they're telling us is going on.

[Have a teenage girl peering into the camera with two different colored eyes.]

Hi, I'm Lena.

[He sounds surprised when Lena responds, and his eyes widen momentarily. Otherwise, there's little change in his expression.]

How are you- Of course, you have one of these.

Your, [what word had the tutorial used] ah, picture is smaller than I expected. I suppose I look the same to you?

[She smiles. Oh, he's one of those people that doesn't have this technology.]

You do, yeah. Still trying to figure out the tablets, huh?

[He nods.]

I've never seen anything like these before. They're... amazing.

It makes for easy communication, that's for sure. Are you doing all right with it, and the other things you've seen so far?

Greetings. It does seem like it at first, yes.

As I said to someone else recently, war is not simply won with warriors. It takes generals and commanders, and cooks and crafters, and healers of body and mind to fight. I do not know what skills you bring, and I would expect neither do those that summon us. Their device seems to pick and choose and pull with a will of its own.

[See that icon? That's what's looking back at you.

[There's a slight pause before he responds, but nothing else that could be interpreted as a reaction - positive or negative - to her appearance.]

Well then, I hope their device knows what it's doing.

Saemus. Saemus Dumar ... you're looking rather spry and lively.

[ Relative to the condition Anders last saw you in, which was a bit corpsey. ]

Should I be otherwise? ...I'm sorry; it's been just a few months, but I've forgotten your name.

[Shhhh he doesn't know about that.]

Not to worry.... you'll be taught the ways of battle soon enough, if what they say is true, and I am certain it is.

[It takes him a few minutes to respond as he figures out how to use text.]

And if I don't want to battle? What then?

I am told there are places for those who don't want to be upon the slaughter field.

I suppose such places don't interest you? Regardless, it is a relief to know I won't be forced into a role I have neither interest nor talent in.

It does not matter to me where I am, to be honest, so long as it is interesting. Even battles get boring after awhile.

I believe it is more no interest than no talent. You will learn a talent.

Not all who are brought here are expected to fight. There are far more skills to be had here than simple prowess in battle. Many are support, tacticians, and diplomats as well if you're concerned.

[Eyeing that there conversation with Anders briefly...]

Unfortunately I can't claim to have expertise in any of those areas, though I'm not wholly unversed in concepts of diplomatic relations. But I don't suppose knowledge of Orlesian court customs would be helpful now.

No true system of ruling has been imposed here. At the very least, your viewpoints will be received if you wish to offer them. No one's been turned away for having an opinion just yet.

My recommendation would to feel neither. This place will wear thin after a week or so.

[She purses her lips a little before getting on with the introductions.]
